Mablen Jones
Mablen Jones (1943 – November 10, 2021) was an American artist. She is best known for the books she created. Jones was born in 1943 in Nutley, New Jersey. Jones’ work was included in the 1971 exhibition ''Twenty Six Contemporary Women Artists'' held at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum is located in Ridgefield, Connecticut. Twenty Six Contemporary Women Artists
''Twenty Six Contemporary Women Artists'' was an art exhibition held at The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum from April 18 - June 13, 1971. It was the first show curated by Lucy R. Lippard. Lippard only included artists who had never had a solo exhibition. It featured 26 emerging New York based women artists. The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum
The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum is located in Ridgefield, Connecticut. The Aldrich has no permanent collection and is the only museum in Connecticut that is dedicated solely to the exhibition of contemporary art. The museum presents the first solo museum exhibitions by emerging artists, significant exhibitions of established and mid-career artists whose work is under recognized, thematic group exhibitions exploring topics in contemporary art and society, and newly commissioned work. History The Aldrich was founded in 1964 by Larry Aldrich (1906–2001) with the purpose of being one of the first truly contemporary art museums in the United States.
