Mable Burton Ringling (March 14, 1875 – June 8, 1929) was an American art collector who with her husband created the John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art. Biography She was born in Moons, Ohio, on March 14, 1875. She had four sisters and one brother. Mable left her Ohio factory job and headed to Chicago in pursuit of a husband. There in Chicago, she met John Nicholas Ringling. They wed in Hoboken, New Jersey, when Mable was 30 and John was 39 years old. John and Mabel, in 1924, began the creation of their dream home in Sarasota, Florida. They called the house Cà d'Zan Cà d'Zan () is a Mediterranean Revival architecture, Mediterranean revival residence in Sarasota, Florida, adjacent to Sarasota Bay. Mable Elmore is a Canadian politician who represents the Vancouver-Kensington electoral district in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia. A member of the British Columbia New Democratic Party (BC NDP), she was first elected as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA) in the 2009 provincial election. Currently the Parliamentary Secretary for Anti-Racism Initiatives, she previously served as the Parliamentary Secretary for Poverty Reduction (2017–2020) and Parliamentary Secretary for Seniors Services and Long Term Care (2020–2022). Mable Fergerson (born January 18, 1955, in Los Angeles) is an American athlete who mainly competed in the 400 metres. She made the Olympic team just weeks after graduating from Ganesha High School in Pomona, California. At the time before Title IX, high schools had no athletic programs for girls. Her 51.91 from the semi-final of the Olympics was the fastest on record for a high school girl to that point in time. She competed for the United States at the 1972 Summer Olympics held in Munich, Germany. She won the silver medal in the 4 × 400 metres where with her teammates Madeline Manning, Cheryl Toussaint and Kathy Hammond. Mable Hillery (July 22, 1929 – April 27, 1976) was an American singer who was a member of the Georgia Sea Island Singers as well as a solo recording artist. Biography Hillery was born in LaGrange, Georgia. She married Will Adams in 1950, and moved to the Georgia Sea Islands around 1960. She joined The Georgia Sea Island Singers in 1961. She had six children, and outside of performing with The Georgia Sea Island Singers was known for her work in the public school systems of both New York City and Atlanta, Georgia. She was active in the civil rights movement in the sixties. Her obituary appeared in ''the New York Times'' on May 1, 1976. Early life Born Mable Daisy Shrock on February 3, 1905, in Van Vleck, Texas, a small town in Matagorda County, near the Gulf of Mexico. She attended a boarding school in Conroe, Texas, where she organized the students to create a student government, which, once established, Howard became the first student body president of. Doris Mable Cochran (May 18, 1898 – May 22, 1968) was an American herpetologist and custodian of the American Natural Collection at the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., for many years. Life Born in North Girard, Pennsylvania, she grew up in Washington, D.C., after her father transferred there for a government job. While an undergraduate student at George Washington University (A.B. 1920, M.S. 1921), she worked for the War Department and became Aide in the Division of Herpetology at the United States National Museum.
