''Mabat LaHadashot'' ( he, מבט לחדשות lit. ''A glance at the news'', sometimes in short ''Mabat'' (Hebrew: מבט lit. ''view''), was an Israeli flagship evening news program that aired continuously on the Israeli public channel from 1968 to May 9, 2017. It was Israel's first televised news program. ''Mabat'' in television The news program, which used to air daily on the public Channel 1, owned by the Israel Broadcasting Authority, had a broadcasting monopoly between 1968 and 1991. The show summarizes the daily news events, through video news stories and in-studio news announcings. The characteristics of the show have evolved over the years, especially in light of the rise of the commercial channels. The main modifications can be observed in the number of story-items, that have grown over the years, and that are being more fast-told, in a way that more closely resembles a commercial channel. Haim Yavin
Haim Yavin ( he, חיים יבין, born September 10, 1932), is an Israeli television anchor and documentary filmmaker. He was one of Israel's leading news presenters, associated with the job for so many decades that he was known as "Mr. Television." Biography Heinz Kluger (later Haim Yavin) was born in Beuthen, Oberschlesien, Germany (now Bytom, Upper Silesia, Poland). His family immigrated to Mandatory Palestine in 1933. After his marriage to Yosefa, the couple lived in Jerusalem's Talbiya neighborhood. They currently live in Tel Aviv. His son is author Jonathan Yavin. Media career Between 1968 and 2008, Yavin was the anchor of ''Mabat'' (lit. "Outlook"), the primetime news roundup on Israel's state television station, Channel 1, which he helped found. Ya'akov Eilon ( he, יעקב אילון, born 3 May 1961), Jacob Eilon, is an Israeli television presenter and journalist. Alongside Miki Haimovich, he was the anchor of Channel 2's '' HaHadashot 2'' and Channel 10's ''Hadashot 10'' news bulletins. Since 2019, Eilon presents the 5 pm IST edition of ''HaHadashot 13'' on Reshet 13. Biography He was born in Bat Yam as Ya'akov Pijade to Bulgarian Jewish parents. Yinon Magal ( he, ינון אלישע מגל, born 27 April 1969) is an Israeli journalist and politician. He served as a member of the Knesset for the Jewish Home for most of 2015. Biography Yinon Elisha Magal was born and raised in Bat Yam. During his IDF national service, he was a member of the Sayeret Matkal special forces, and was involved in the abduction of Abdel Karim Obeid. After leaving the army, he joined Kol Yisrael. Channel 1 ( he, הערוץ הראשון, ''HaArutz HaRishon'', lit. ''The First Channel,'' sometimes called 1 ערוץ, ''Arutz Ahat'') was one of the oldest television channels in Israel (with only the Israeli Educational Television being older) and one of five terrestrial channels in the country (along with Channel 2, Channel 10, Channel 33 and the Knesset Channel).
