Maarten Wevers
Sir Maarten Laurens Wevers (born 24 March 1952) is a New Zealand diplomat and public servant, who served as New Zealand's List of High Commissioners from New Zealand to Papua New Guinea, High Commissioner to Papua New Guinea and List of Ambassadors from New Zealand to Japan, Ambassador to Japan. He was the Chief Executive of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet (New Zealand), Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet from 2004 to 2012. Wevers was born in Hengelo, Netherlands, on 24 March 1952 and emigrated to New Zealand when he was just over one year old. He became a naturalised New Zealand citizen in 1954. He is brother to Professor Lydia Wevers (Director of the Stout Research Centre at Victoria University). Wevers was educated at Rathkeale College from 1965 to 1969, and went on to Victoria University of Wellington, graduating with a BSc and Bachelor of Arts, BA (Hons) in economics. NZ Post (), shortened from New Zealand Post, is a state-owned enterprise responsible for providing most postal services in New Zealand. The New Zealand Post Office, a government agency, provided postal, banking, and telecommunications services in New Zealand until 1987. By the 1980s, however, economic difficulties made the government reconsider how it delivered postal services. For example, in 1987–1988, the postal division lost NZ$50 million. The New Zealand Order of Merit () is an order of merit in the New Zealand royal honours system. It was established by royal warrant on 30 May 1996 by Elizabeth II, Queen of New Zealand, "for those persons who in any field of endeavour, have rendered meritorious service to the Crown and nation or who have become distinguished by their eminence, talents, contributions or other merits", to recognise outstanding service to the Crown and people of New Zealand in a civil or military capacity. David Lange
David Russell Lange ( ; 4 August 1942 – 13 August 2005) was a New Zealand politician who served as the 32nd prime minister of New Zealand from 1984 to 1989. A member of the New Zealand Labour Party, Lange was also the Minister of Education (New Zealand), minister of Education and the Minister of Foreign Affairs (New Zealand), minister of Foreign Affairs alongside his term as prime minister.
