Ma Tau Chung
Ma Tau Chung ( or ) is an area in Kowloon, Hong Kong, It was named after a creek (hence , ''Chung'', in the name) which originated in Quarry Hill emptying into Kowloon Bay. The village of Ma Tau Chung stood on its banks near the river mouth near the Sacred Hill. Ma Tau Chung Road is named after the place name. It is the major surface road for traffic between Kowloon City and other areas to the east, onwards through Prince Edward Road West and Prince Edward Road East, and areas in southern Kowloon, through Ma Tau Wai Road. History During the Japanese occupation of Hong Kong in the Second World War between 1941 and 1945, most of the Indian POWs captured in Hong Kong were interned at a POW camp here. Gun Club Hill Barracks
Gun Club Hill Barracks are barracks in King's Park, or in Jordan, Hong Kong formerly used by British Army garrisons during British colonial rule. The military began using the area shortly after 1860 when the British acquired Kowloon. The barracks are bounded by Austin Road, Jordan Path, Gascoigne Road and Chatham Road South. The barracks are currently occupied by the People's Liberation Army (PLA) who began using the facility after the transfer of sovereignty of Hong Kong on 1July 1997. The compound now includes a hospital constructed for the People's Liberation Army, Hong Kong, completed around 1997. ADPL
The Hong Kong Association for Democracy and People's Livelihood (ADPL) is a Hong Kong pro-democracy social-liberal political party catering to grassroots interest with a strong basis in Sham Shui Po. Established on 26 October 1986, it was one of the three major pro-democracy groups along with the Meeting Point and the Hong Kong Affairs Society in the 1980s. The ADPL survived through the great unification of the pro-democracy camp in the 1991 and became the only pro-democracy party to sit in the Beijing-controlled Provisional Legislative Council in 1997. It was ousted for the first time in the 1998 Legislative Council election. The Hong Kong Aviation Club is an aviation club which offers training on both fixed-wing aircraft and helicopter to Private Pilot Licence Level. It was established in 1982 upon the amalgamation of the Hong Kong Flying Club, the Aero Club of Hong Kong and the Far East Flying Training School. History The predecessor, Hong Kong Flying Club was formed in the late 1920s when the governor, Sir Cecil Clementi, presided over the inaugural meeting on 20 December 1929. Flight training commenced at Kai Tak in the second half of 1930 and followed by commercial services six years later with the arrival of Dorado from Malaysia on 24 March 1936. It formerly held most of its activities at Kai Tak Airport, where it had hangars and other facilities. The club moved most of its aircraft to Shek Kong Airfield in 1994 after the hours for general aviation at Kai Tak were sharply reduced, to two hours per morning, as of July 1 that year.
