M Tigers F.C.
M Tigers are a South African football (soccer) club, with the full official name Mahlangu Tigers. They are based in Tembisa, Gauteng. The club were previously known as PJ Stars Kings. In May 2007, PJ Stars Kings were deducted 15 points by SAFA for using unregistered players. After this point deduction, the team suffered a relegation from National First Division, to play the next season in SAFA Second Division. The club was at this point of time either sold or renamed to "M Tigers FC". M Tigers are a feeder team for Mamelodi Sundowns. Thembisa, formerly Tembisa (Dindela), is a large township situated to the north of Kempton Park on the East Rand, Gauteng, South Africa. It was established in 1957 when black people were resettled from Alexandra and other areas in Edenvale, Kempton Park, Midrand and Germiston. History The township was founded in 1957. The ABC Motsepe League, previously known as the Vodacom League between 1998 and 2012, was founded in 1998 as the current Second Division and the overall third tier of South African football. The competition is regulated by SAFA, and until 2012 had been sponsored by mobile telecommunications company Vodacom. It features 144 teams in total, divided into 9 divisions, borders decided by the 9 geo-political provinces of South Africa: Eastern Cape, Free State, KwaZulu Natal, Northern Cape, Western Cape, Gauteng, Limpopo, Mpumalanga and North West. 2022–23 SAFA Second Division
The 2022–23 SAFA Second Division (known as the ABC Motsepe League for sponsorship reasons) was the 25th season of the SAFA Second Division, the third tier for South African association football clubs, since its establishment in 1998. Due to the size of South Africa, the competition was split into nine divisions, one for each region. After the league stage of the regional competition was completed, the nine winning teams of each regional division entered the playoffs. Upington City from the Northern Cape, and Orbit College from the North West qualified for the final, with both earning promotion to the 2023–24 National First Division. The National First Division (NFD), officially known as the Motsepe Foundation Championship for sponsorship reasons, is the second-highest league of South African club football after the South African Premier Division. Both the NFD and South African Premier Division are organised by the Premier Soccer League. Mamelodi, part of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality, is a township set up by the then apartheid government northeast of Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. Etymology "Mamelodi" is the name derived from the Sepedi word with the prefix being "ma" meaning mother, and the suffix "melodi" meaning melodies. Its meaning can be translated to mean ''Mother of Melodies''. History The township was established when 16 houses were built on the farm Vlakfontein in June 1953 and later the name changed to Mamelodi.
