''MTV Unplugged: Summer Solstice'' is a live album by the Norwegian band a-ha, released on 6 October 2017 as part of the ''MTV Unplugged'' series. It was recorded live at the Harbour Hall at Ocean Sound Recordings in Giske Municipality, Norway, on 22 and 23 June 2017. Commercial performance The album debuted at number six on the UK Albums Chart with 6,982 units sold in its first week, becoming A-ha's seventh top-10 album in the United Kingdom. A-ha
A-ha (often stylised as ''a''-h''a''; ) is a Norwegian synth-pop band formed in Oslo in 1982. Founded by Paul Waaktaar-Savoy (guitars and vocals), Magne Furuholmen (keyboards, guitars and vocals), and Morten Harket (lead vocals), the band rose to fame during the mid-1980s. A-ha achieved their biggest success with their debut album ''Hunting High and Low'' in 1985. Lifelines (song)
"Lifelines" was the second single and the title track from A-ha's 2002 album of the same name. Music video This video is based on the Norwegian short film ''A Year Along the Abandoned Road'', directed by Morten Skallerud in 1991. Time lapse photography was used to make the video, at 50,000 times the normal speed; the original film was 12 minutes long and was filmed over 105 days, and edited to fit the song length and the scenes with the band members. The subject of the short film was Børfjord, a semi-deserted fisherman's village in northern Norway, Hasvik Municipality. William Alfred Sergeant (born 12 April 1958) is an English guitarist, best known for being a member of Echo & the Bunnymen. He is the group's only constant member. Career As a solo artist, Sergeant focused on minimalism and atmospherics, and usually released entirely instrumental music. Sergeant's first solo work was in 1978, when he self-produced ''Weird As Fish'' and made a total of seven copies. The album was officially released 25 years later. Early in the life of Echo & the Bunnymen, Sergeant recorded ''La Vie Luonge'', a soundtrack piece for a short Bunnymen concert film of the same name. His first formal solo album, ''Themes for Grind'', was released in 1982, while still active with Echo & the Bunnymen, and reached number 6 on the Indie album chart. "The Killing Moon" is a song by the English rock band Echo & the Bunnymen. It was released on 20 January 1984 as the lead single from their fourth studio album, '' Ocean Rain'' (1984). Ian Stephen McCulloch (born 5 May 1959) is an English singer-songwriter and musician, best known as the lead singer of the rock band Echo & the Bunnymen. Career McCulloch was a singer-songwriter with the Crucial Three, one of many local bands that sprang up amongst the regulars who patronised a Liverpool club called Eric's in the late 1970s. The other two members were Julian Cope and Pete Wylie who went on to form Wah!. "Forever Not Yours" is a song by Norwegian synth-pop band A-ha, released as the lead single from their seventh studio album, '' Lifelines''. It was sent to radio stations in parts of Europe on 22 February 2002 (15 April in Belgium) and was released commercially on 2 April. The cover of the commercial release features a closeup shot of the black front end of a 1950s Cadillac standing on flatland. Background Band vocalist Morten Harket described the song as "one of those songs that sums us up. Melancholy, and at the same time uplifting – soaring." Morten Harket (; born 14 September 1959) is a Norwegian singer who is the lead vocalist of the synth-pop band A-ha. A-ha has released 11 studio albums as of 2024, and topped the charts internationally after their breakthrough hit "Take On Me" in 1985. Harket has also released six solo albums. Before joining A-ha in 1982, Harket had appeared on the Oslo club scene as the singer for blues outfit Souldier Blue. "Stay on These Roads" is a song by Norwegian band A-ha, released on 14 March 1988 by Warner Bros. Records as the lead single from their Stay on These Roads, third studio album of the same name (1988). It succeeded their previous single, "The Living Daylights (song), The Living Daylights", which was recorded by the band for the title theme for the James Bond film The Living Daylights, of the same name in 1987. Background and release A Roland D-50 was used on this song —the sound patch is called "Staccato Heaven"— the wind sound during the instrumental was made on either a Roland Juno 60 or Juno 106 synthesizer. The versions on the 7" vinyl and the 3" CD single ("7 inch Version") are identical to the album version. Ingrid Helene Håvik (born 1987 in Ålesund, Norway) is a Norwegian songwriter and vocalist. She is best known as the lead singer of Highasakite but has also released a solo album under the artist name Ingrid. Biography Håvik is a former member of the band Your Headlights Are On with a self-titled album in 2011. Highasakite was formed the same year, and they released their debut album ''All That Floats Will Rain'' the next year, with Håvik as one of the main composers. Analogue (All I Want)
"Analogue (All I Want)" is a song by Norwegian band A-ha. It is the title track of their eighth studio album (2005). The song was released as a single on 30 December 2005 and became a top-10 hit in Norway and the United Kingdom, their first in the latter country since 1988's "Stay on These Roads". Background and release The song was re-written and re-recorded after it was first recorded. The original version of the song was titled "Minor Key Sonata (Analogue)", and (like the rest of the ''Analogue'' album) was produced by Martin Terefe and mixed by Flood. Max Martin was then brought in to turn "Minor Key Sonata (Analogue)" into a more radio-appropriate song, with less surreal lyrics and catchier chorus. The song was then retitled "Analogue (All I Want)" and is the only track on the album not produced by Terefe. Upon its release as a single, it became the band's first Top 10 hit in the UK since 1988.
