MTV Club
''Club MTV'' is a half hour television show modeled after ''American Bandstand'' that aired on MTV from August 31, 1987, to June 26, 1992. ''Club MTV'' was part of MTV's second generation of programming, as the channel was phasing out its original 5 VJs and introducing new ones. Format Hosted by Downtown Julie Brown (Kevin Seal hosted the pilot) at The Palladium, a large dance club in New York City, the show cut back and forth between teenagers and young adults dancing to a hit music video. Musical guests often introduced their new brand singles. Club MTV Tour In July 1989, MTV launched a ''Club MTV Tour'' featuring Was (Not Was), Information Society (Band), Paula Abdul, Tone Loc and Milli Vanilli, with Downtown Julie Brown & the Club MTV dancers. Downtown Julie Brown
Julie Dorne Brown, better known as Downtown Julie Brown, is a British-born actress, dancer, television personality, SiriusXM DJ and former MTV VJ. Brown is best known as the host of the television music show '' Club MTV'', which ran from 1987 until 1992. Life and career Brown's father was Jamaican and her mother British. Brown has six siblings. Her father was in the Royal Air Force, and she grew up on air force bases around the world, including Singapore and Cyprus, before returning to the United Kingdom, where they settled in Bridgend, Wales. After winning the UK Disco Dancing Championships, she went on to win the World Disco Dancing Championship in 1979. Party To Go
MTV ''Party To Go'' is a series of dance music compilation albums released by Tommy Boy Records from 1991 to 2001. The first album in the series was titled '' Club MTV Party To Go Volume One'' and the only release to have 'Club' in its title. The albums were numbered up to Volume 10. After Volume 10, '' MTV Party to Go Platinum Mix'' was released containing past songs from the series. The next several releases in the series used the years ( 98, 99, 2000) in the title instead of volume numbers. '' MTV Party to Go Remixed'' was the last release of the series in 2001. A portion of the proceeds from the ''Party To Go'' series was donated to the AMC Cancer Research Cente Volumes 1 and 2 were also released as DVDs featuring the music videos of the songs from their CD counterparts in the same sequences. Amp (TV Series)
''Amp'' is a music video program on MTV that aired from 1996 to 2001. It was aimed at the electronic music and rave crowd and was responsible for exposing many electronica acts to the mainstream. When co-creator Todd Mueller (who had worked on this with V. Owen Bush, Amy Finnerty and show co-creator, on air music video DJ Burle Avant 1996–1997) left the show in 1998, it was redubbed ''Amp 2.0''. The show aired some 46 episodes in total over its 6-year run. In its final two years, reruns were usually shown from earlier years. ''Amp'''s time slot was moved around quite a bit, but the show usually aired late at night or in the early morning hours on the weekend. Because of this late night time slot, the show developed a small but cult like following. ''Dance Party USA'' is an American dance television show that aired daily on cable's USA Network from April 12, 1986, to June 27, 1992. It was originally a half-hour, but was expanded to an hour in 1987. The program was always shot at, and aired live from, various TV studios including WPHL-TV/17 and WGBS in Philadelphia from 1986–1992.
