MTV Africa
MTV Africa (formerly MTV South Africa) is an African pay television from Paramount Networks EMEAA. It focuses mainly on rebroadcasting MTV US content as well as airing local-produced reality series. Founded by Alex Okosi and launched as 'Africas MTV' alongside founding members Jandre Louw, Dudu Qubu and Maya Padmore. History * 1995 – Pan-African satellite provider DStv launched 17 international channels on its service, including MTV Europe and VH1 Europe. These channels were the major promoters of international genres of music to the continent. * 2004 – MTV Networks International announced it had plans to launch its 100th channel in Africa with the launch of MTV Africa (proposed branding). In high-definition television (HDTV) and video display technology, 1080i is a video display format with 1080 lines of vertical resolution and Interlaced video, interlaced scanning method. This format was once a standard in HDTV. It was particularly used for broadcast television because it can deliver high-resolution images without needing excessive bandwidth. This format is used in the SMPTE 292M standard. Definition The number "1080" in 1080i refers to the number of horizontal lines that make up the vertical resolution of the display. ''The Hills'' is an American reality television series that aired for six seasons on MTV from May 31, 2006, until July 13, 2010. Developed as a spin-off of '' Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County'', the series focused on the personal and professional lives of several young women and men residing in Los Angeles, California. Its premise was conceived by Adam DiVello, while Liz Gateley and Sean Travis served as executive producers. ''Guy Code'' is an American reality comedy television series on MTV2. The series debuted on November 15, 2011, and features various pop culture entertainers, top comics, athletes, and specialized experts who tell the story of the special code of conduct that exists between men. On September 26, 2012, MTV2 announced that series' second season delivered the highest-rated and most-watched original series in MTV2 history. MTV launched the ''Guy Code'' Blog in July 2012, right before the series' second season began. Maintained by head editor, Ryan McKee, and associate editor, Marty Beckerman, the daily blog acts as a supplement to the series. ''Girl Code'' is an American comedy television series that premiered on MTV on April 23, 2013. It is a spin-off series to '' Guy Code''. The series features actresses, musicians, stand-up comics—plus a few men—who discuss the sisterhood that women share. It was announced on June 13, 2013, that the series had been renewed for a twenty-episode second season, which premiered on October 30, 2013. In April 2014, MTV announced the third season renewal of ''Girl Code'', which premiered on October 1, 2014. In August 2015, MTV premiered a spin-off talk show called ''Girl Code Live'' hosted by Awkwafina, Nessa, and Carly Aquilino.
