Melbourne Talk Radio (callsign 3MP) was a radio station in Melbourne that commenced broadcasting on 19 April 2010 until its closure on 2 March 2012. It replaced, and was later succeeded by, 3MP, which used the 1377 kHz frequency. The station's transmitter is located in the suburb of Rowville and broadcasts at 5 kW. History In December 2009, existing operator Pacific Star Network and Macquarie Radio Network, the owner of top rating Sydney talkback radio station 2GB, agreed to create the joint-venture "Melbourne Radio Operations Pty Ltd", to supply radio programming in the Melbourne market. Rowville is a suburb in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, 27 km south-east of Melbourne's Central Business District, located within the City of Knox local government area. Rowville recorded a population of 33,571 at the 2021 census. Rowville is one of the largest suburbs south-east of Melbourne. It houses the Rowville branch of the Eastern Regional Library, adjacent to the Rowville Community Centre under the Clock Tower. 1116 SEN (call sign 3AK) is an Australian radio station in Victoria, Australia. Owned and operated by Sports Entertainment Group, it broadcasts a sports radio format. It commenced broadcasting on 29 November 1931 as 3AK, the station currently broadcasts from studios in South Melbourne. History The station first broadcast on 29 November 1931 as 3AK. In October 2003, amid growing debt and struggling ratings, 3AK operators Data & Commerce Limited placed the station up for sale. In November, owners Data & Commerce Limited entered into a lease with the newly formed Sports Entertainment Network to create SEN 1116, a 24-hour sports radio station. Nine News is a radio news service providing the half-hourly radio news bulletins to radio stations across Australia. History On 16 September 2009, Macquarie Radio Network shut down its news website, livenews.com.au after two years of existence, citing poor financial returns. In April 2015, following the merger of Macquarie Radio Network and Fairfax Radio Network, the newsroom of 2UE Sydney was closed and replaced with the 2 GB feed. Local bulletins on 3AW, 4BC and 6PR now take the Macquarie National News branding. This branding was retained until the renaming of Macquarie Media as Nine Radio in 2020. Career Smith has publicly addressed his alcoholism and mental health problems on a number of occasions. In an interview with the ''Daily Telegraph'', stating "I can never go back to that point. I've made some significant changes to my life. I think to a certain degree you have to hit ground zero before you do that." Smith has attempted to justify his behaviour by citing alcoholism and suffering from bipolar disorder.
