MS Renaissance (1992)
MS ''Renaissance'' is a cruise ship that re-entered service in June 2023. The ship was built in Italy in 1992 as ''Maasdam'' for Holland America Line. While sailing for Holland America, the vessel operated primarily in North American waters. In 2020 she was bought by Seajets and renamed ''Aegean Myth'', but did not trade. The ship was bought in 2022 by a new French operator, (CFC). In 2025, CFC agreed to merge with Ambassador Cruise Line, forming the Ambassador Group. Design and description As ''Maasdam'', the ship featured a teak promenade deck and her interior motifs paid homage to the Dutch East India Company and the Dutch West India Company. The centerpiece of the ship's atrium was a sculpture crafted by Luciano Vistosi and featured over 2,000 pieces of glass. A sea trial or trial trip is the testing phase of a watercraft (including boats, ships, and submarines). It is also referred to as a "shakedown cruise" by many naval personnel. It is usually the last phase of construction and takes place on open water, and it can last from a few hours to many days. Sea trials are conducted to measure a vessel's performance and general seaworthiness. Testing of a vessel's speed, maneuverability, equipment and safety features are usually conducted. Usually in attendance are technical representatives from the builder (and from builders of major systems), governing and certification officials, and representatives of the owners. Successful sea trials subsequently lead to a vessel's certification for commissioning and acceptance by its owner. Freeport is a city, district and free trade zone on the island of Grand Bahama in the northwest part of The Bahamas.
