MS Melody
MS ''Melody'' was a cruise ship, formerly owned and operated by MSC Cruises. She was built in 1982 by the CNIM shipyard in La Seyne, France for Home Lines as ''Atlantic''. Between 1988 and 1997 she sailed for Premier Cruise Line as ''StarShip Atlantic''. In 1997, the vessel entered service for MSC Cruises as ''Melody''. In 2009 she repelled a pirate attack off Seychelles. She ended her career as an accommodation ship ''Qing'', during which she sank in storm at her berth, and was scrapped in 2019. Home Lines
Home Lines was an Italian passenger shipping company that operated both ocean liners and cruise ships. The company was founded in 1946, and it ceased operations in 1988 when merged into Holland America Line. Although based in Genoa, Home Lines was an international company with ships registered in Panama, while the original company chairman Eugen Eugenides was Greeks, Greek. By the time Home Lines was merged into Holland America, they were one of the most highly regarded cruise lines in the world. Home Lines were connected to Cosulich Line, Cosulich Lines, Swedish American Line and Hamburg-America Line. Eugen Eugenides' adopted son Nicolaos Vernicos-Eugenides cofounded the Hamburg Atlantic Line in 1958, and he later was the CEO of both Home Lines and Hamburg Atlantic Line. SS Malolo
SS ''Malolo'' (later known as ''Matsonia'', ''Atlantic'', and ''Queen Frederica'') was a passenger liner, later cruise ship, built by William Cramp & Sons, Philadelphia, in 1926 for the Matson Line. The largest and most luxurious American passenger ship of her era, she was the first of a number of ships designed by William Francis Gibbs for the Matson line, which did much to develop tourism in the Hawaiian Islands. ''Malolo'' (flying fish) was built for the first-class luxury service between San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Honolulu. Repositioning Cruise
A repositioning cruise (informal: repo cruise) is a cruise in which the embarkation port and the disembarkation port are different. This is a less common type of cruise; in the majority of cruises the ship's final destination is the same as the starting point. Some cruise ships relocate due to change in season (usually during the spring or fall) or economic conditions (a cruise line may relocate a ship when it forecasts demand to be greater in another region). Instead of repositioning an empty ship, cruise lines operate repositioning cruises. Many cruise ships spend the summer in Europe and the winter in the Caribbean, as a cold winter in Europe decreases the demand for seasonal cruising there. SS ''Oceanic'' was a cruise ship built in 1963 by Cantieri Riuniti dell' Adriatico, Monfalcone, Italy for Home Lines. Between 1985 and 2000, she sailed for Premier Cruise Line under the names ''Starship Oceanic'' and ''Big Red Boat I'', before being sold to Pullmantur Cruises and reverting to her original name. In 2009 was sold to a new owner-operator, Peace Boat, which kept her until 2012. She was broken up in China later that year. Concept and construction ''Oceanic'' was the first newbuilt ship ordered by Genoa-based Home Lines, which had been founded in 1946.
