The Bridge (), previously known as Bridge of Independent Lists () until November 2020, is a List of political parties in Croatia, political party in Croatia founded in 2012. The party is led by Božo Petrov, its founder and the former mayor of Metković, Deputy Prime Minister of Croatia, deputy prime minister and speaker of the Croatian Parliament. Božo Petrov
Božo Petrov (; born 16 October 1979) is a Croatian politician and psychiatrist who served as Speaker of the Croatian Parliament from 2016 to 2017. He has been the president of The Bridge party since 2012. He previously served as mayor of his native town Metković from 2013 to 2016, and Deputy Prime Minister in the cabinet of Tihomir Orešković from January until his election as speaker in October 2016. Petrov resigned his position as speaker on 4 May 2017, amidst a government and parliamentary crisis. Having held the office for a little over six months, Petrov is to date the shortest serving Speaker of the Parliament since 1991. This article lists current political parties in Croatia, as well as former parties dating back as far as 1841. Since 1989, Croatia has a multi-party system with numerous parties that must collaborate to form coalition governments. There are a total of 160 active political parties in Croatia as of November 3, 2024. Since January 1990 (when first political parties were officially legalized in Croatia) a total of 409 of them have been registered to date, out of which 249 have since been struck from the register. The legal position, conditions, method and procedure for the establishment, registration and termination of political parties are determined by the Political Parties Act. A country's gross government debt (also called public debt or sovereign debt) is the financial liabilities of the government sector. A balanced budget (particularly that of a government) is a budget in which revenues are equal to expenditures. Thus, neither a budget deficit nor a budget surplus exists (the accounts "balance"). 2015 Croatian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Croatia on 8 November 2015. All 151 seats in the Parliament were up for election. This parliamentary election was the 8th since the first multi-party election in 1990 and the first since Croatia joined the European Union in 2013. Dubrovnik-Neretva County
The Dubrovnik-Neretva County (; , ) is the southernmost county of Croatia. The county seat is Dubrovnik and other large towns are Korčula, Metković, Opuzen and Ploče. The Municipality of Neum, which belongs to neighbouring Bosnia and Herzegovina, divides the county in two parts which are connected only by the Pelješac Bridge. The southern part of the county consists of Dubrovnik and the surrounding area, including the Pelješac peninsula, and the islands of Korčula, Lastovo, Mljet, Šipan, Lopud and Koločep. The northern part of the county includes the Neretva Delta, the Baćina lakes north of Ploče, and a swath of hinterland near the southernmost slopes of Biokovo and around the hill of Rujnica. 2013 Croatian Local Elections
Local elections were held in Croatia on 19 May 2013, with the second round held on 2 June where necessary. The elections were held to elect members of city councils, mayors, members of county councils and county prefects. The turnout was 47%, and 43% in the second round. Summary of mayoral results In Zagreb, populist right-wing and former Social Democrat Milan Bandić won 47.9% of the vote against Social Democrat Health Minister Rajko Ostojić's 22.7%. Bandic received a two-thirds majority in the second round. The incumbent mayor of Split, Željko Kerum, placed third with 18.54% of the vote and was eliminated from the second round which was narrowly won by the Socialist candidate Ivo Baldasar. Regionalism is a political ideology that seeks to increase the political power, influence and self-determination of the people of one or more subnational regions. It focuses on the "development of a political or social system based on one or more" regions, and/or the national, normative, or economic interests of a specific region, group of regions or another subnational entity, gaining strength from or aiming to strengthen the "consciousness of and loyalty to a distinct region with a homogeneous population", similarly to nationalism. 2020 Croatian Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Croatia on 5 July 2020. They were the tenth parliamentary elections since the first multi-party elections in 1990 and elected the 151 members of the Croatian Parliament. 140 Members of Parliament were elected from geographical electoral districts in Croatia, three MPs were chosen by the Croatian diaspora and eight MPs came from the ranks of citizens registered as belonging to any of the 22 constitutionally recognized national minorities. The speaker of the Croatian Parliament (, literally the president of the Croatian Parliament) is the Speaker (politics), presiding officer in the Croatian Parliament, Croatia's legislative body. Under Article 97 of the constitution of Croatia, the speaker of the Croatian Parliament is the only constitutional deputy to the president of Croatia and serves as acting president if the elected president vacates the office before the expiration of the five-year presidential term due to either death, resignation or removal from office (as determined by the Constitutional Court of Croatia, Constitutional Court).
