Myanmar Football Federation
The Myanmar Football Federation ( MFF; ) is the governing body of football in Myanmar. The MFF oversees the Burmese men's national team, the women's national team, and youth national teams as well as national football championships and professional club competitions. History Reportedly introduced during the British colonial era by James George Scott, a British colonial administrator, football has been the most popular sport in the country. The Burma Football Federation was founded in 1947, a year before the country's independence from the United Kingdom. The BFF joined FIFA in 1952, and the Asian Football Confederation in 1954. The federation launched the first States and Divisions Football Championship in 1952. The highly popular annual competition became the main avenue for attracting talented players from around the country. This rudimentary level of talent development seemed sufficient for a while. Southern Myanmar United FC
Southern Myanmar Football Club is a Burmese football club, based in Mawlamyine, Myanmar. The club was a founding member of the Myanmar National League (MNL) in 2009. The club represents the Mon State, Kayin State and Tanintharyi Region in southern coast of Myanmar. Although it plans to use the Kyaungtha Stadium in Mawlamyine as its home field, it presently shares the Aung San Stadium in Yangon as its home stadium with three other clubs, as the country lacks adequate facilities outside Yangon and Mandalay. Relegated to MNL 2 at the end of the 2014 MNL season. The club finished in the last place tie with Delta United FC in the league's inaugural cup competition, the MNL Cup 2009. Aung San Stadium
The Bogyoke Aung San Stadium () is a multi-purpose stadium located in downtown Yangon, Myanmar. It was built as an athletic ground in 1906, which was completed in 1909 and named as Burma Athletic Association Ground, where many sports were held such as cricket, football and tennis. The runway was constructed in 1935. Overview Renovated and renamed after Aung San in 1953, the 40,000 seat stadium is still the largest stadium in Myanmar and was the national stadium until the mid-1980s. The stadium was the main venue for 1961 and 1969 South East Asian Peninsular Games. While it is no longer the main venue of choice for international level competitions, the stadium is still heavily used for Myanmar National League football matches. 2015 General Aung San Shield
The 2015 General Aung San Shield () is the first season of Myanmar knockout football competition. The tournament is organized by the Myanmar Football Federation. It is the league cup competition started in 2015 Myanmar football season. This cup succeeded the Myanmar Football Federation Cup. MFF has changed the cup competition style as follows. In the first round, ten clubs competing in 2015 MNL-2 and two clubs which were promoted to 2015 MNL, twelve teams in total, will be involved playing at a neutral ground with six teams emerged as winners. In the second round, ten clubs competing in 2015 MNL and the six winners from the first round, sixteen teams in total, will be involved playing at a neutral ground with eight teams emerged as winners. The Quarter-finals will still be played as one-legged matches but the Semi-final will be competed as two-legged (Home and Away) matches. The MFF Ooredoo Cup 2014 was the 2014 edition of the MFF Cup. The winner qualified for the 2015 AFC Cup. A total of 22 teams entered the competition. First round Draw held on 31 March 2014.
