MLS Combine
The Major League Soccer Player Combine used to be a four-day annual showcase, occurring every January. For 2020 it will not happen. It seems that individual teams will be doing their own trials instead. Format The present Player Combine features four teams composed of invitees, usually who play on youth national teams or were standout players on premier college soccer teams. 2018 Combine Teams * Team Tango (blue) * Team Predator (red) * Team X (white) * Team Nemeziz (black) Caribbean expansion In November 2013, the Caribbean Football Union and Major League Soccer came to an agreement where all 31 CFU members could put forward player candidates between the age of 18 and 22 to be entered into the combine. The Caribbean candidates would be vetted at a Caribbean combine event taking place in Antigua in January 2014. Caribbean Football Union
The Caribbean Football Union (CFU) is the representative organization for football associations in the Caribbean. It represents 25 FIFA member nations, as well as 6 territories that are not affiliated to FIFA. The Union was established in January 1978 and its Member Associations compete in the CONCACAF region. The CFU also runs developmental competitions, including a women's and boys' and girls' Challenge Series. Major League Soccer (MLS) is a men's professional soccer league sanctioned by the United States Soccer Federation, which represents the sport's highest level in the United States. The league comprises 29 teams—26 in the U.S. and 3 in Canada—since the 2023 season. The league is headquartered in Midtown Manhattan. Major League Soccer is the most recent in a series of men's premier professional national soccer leagues established in the United States and Canada. The predecessor of MLS was the North American Soccer League (NASL), which existed from 1968 until 1984. MLS SuperDraft
The MLS SuperDraft is an annual college draft for teams of Major League Soccer in the United States and Canada. It takes place in January and is used by teams to select players who have graduated from college or otherwise been signed by the league. The SuperDraft was first instituted in 2000, as a combination of the MLS College Draft, in which players having graduated from college were selected, and the MLS Supplemental Draft, in which all other players were chosen. The draft is divided into three rounds in which each club has a selection, the order of which is determined by a combination of the teams' playoff and regular season positions, with the last placed team (or expansion teams) getting the first pick. MLS Supplemental Draft
The MLS Supplemental Draft had a number of incarnations in US soccer: From 1996 to 1999, all players playing in the United States playing professionally in the United Soccer Leagues were eligible for the MLS Supplemental Draft, where they could be selected by all Major League Soccer teams. Players graduating college were entered into a separate MLS College Draft.
