MISS-LOU Junior College Conference
The Louisiana Community Colleges Athletic Conference (LCCAC) is a member conference of the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA). It, along with the Mississippi Association of Community & Junior Colleges, MACJC, are members of Region XXIII (or Region 23). The conference was once known as the MISS-LOU Junior College Conference, up until its name change in early 2019. The members of the LCCAC do not have football programs whereas the members of the MACJC do. The LCCAC is a junior college conference for many technical and community colleges. Conference championships are held in most sports and individuals can be named to All-Conference and All-Academic teams. At one time, Meridian Community College in Meridian, Mississippi was a member of the LCCAC, however MCC left the conference in 2002 for the Mississippi Association of Community & Junior Colleges Athletic Conference, MACJC in order to cut travel expenses. The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) is the governing association of community college, State college (other), state college, and junior college athletics throughout the United States. Currently the NJCAA holds 24 separate regions across 24 states and is divided into 3 divisions. History The idea for the NJCAA was conceived in 1937, in Fresno, California. A handful of junior college representatives met to organize an association that would promote and supervise a national program of junior college sports and activities consistent with the educational objectives of junior colleges. Chalmette ( ) is a census-designated place (CDP) in, and the parish seat of, St. Bernard Parish in southeastern Louisiana, United States. The 2010 census reported that Chalmette had 16,751 people; 2011 population was listed as 17,119; however, the pre- Katrina population was 32,069 at the 2000 census. Nunez Community College (NCC) is a public community college in Chalmette, Louisiana. Its full name is Elaine P. Nunez Community College; it was named for the deceased wife of former Louisiana State Senate President Samuel B. Nunez. Its service area includes St. Bernard and Plaquemines parishes. Eunice is a city in Acadia and St. Landry parishes in the U.S. state of Louisiana. The 2010 census placed the population at 10,398, a decrease of 1,101, or 9.5 percent, from the 2000 tabulation of 11,499.
