MCR Hotels is an American hotel owner-operator. It is the third largest hotel owner in the United States by room count, with 25,000 rooms and hotels that include The High Line and TWA hotels. History MCR Hotels was founded by Tyler Morse in 2006. Its first hotel was built in Huntsville, Alabama the same year. In 2012, MCR Hotels purchased a historic dormitory of General Theological Seminary that was built in 1895. The building was converted into The High Line Hotel which was opened in May 2013. In 2015, MCR and JetBlue negotiated the rights to turn the head house of the TWA Flight Center into a new hotel. The TWA Hotel opened on May 15, 2019 and is the only hotel operating within the boundaries of JFK Airport. By 2019, the company owned 90 hotels in 29 states. Tyler Morse
Tyler Morse (born 1974)is an American businessman and founder of MCR Hotels. He is also an investor and board member of Swansea City A.F.C. Early life and education Morse was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. At the age of 19 he traveled to Chile and became a ski instructor and also worked as a ski instructor in California. He attended the University of California, Berkeley and later Harvard Business School. He had also worked as a baggage handler at the Los Angeles International Airport. Career Morse began his career at Ernst & Young as an accountant. He also spent time as an investment banker with Morgan Stanley. Prior to becoming a hotelier, he worked as the assistant to Starwoods Hotels CEO Barry Sternlicht and was also president of the spa and beauty company Bliss. The High Line Hotel
The High Line Hotel is a historic hotel in the West Chelsea neighborhood in the borough of Manhattan, New York City. The building was constructed in 1895 as a dormitory for the General Theological Seminary and is now owned by the Brodsky Organization and MCR Hotels. The hotel was opened in May 2013. History The land on which The High Line Hotel sits was once part of British Major Thomas Clarke's "Chelsea" estate, which was established in 1750 and is the namesake for the current surrounding neighborhood. The estate would eventually be passed down to Clarke's grandson, Clement Clarke Moore, who wrote his 1823 Christmas poem, " A Visit from St. Nicholas," on the property. Moore also operated an apple orchard on the estate, which is where The High Line Hotel is now located. In the 1820s, Moore donated the land that contained the apple orchard to the Episcopal Church. TWA Hotel
TWA Hotel is a hotel at John F. Kennedy International Airport in Queens, New York City, that opened on May 15, 2019. It uses the head house of the TWA Flight Center, designed by the architect Eero Saarinen and completed in 1962, and two flanking buildings added for the hotel project. It contains a total of 512 rooms, as well as conference space, several restaurants, and an aviation history museum. TWA Hotel was developed as part of a project to reuse the head house, which had stopped functioning as an air terminal in 2001. The TWA Flight Center, also known as the Trans World Flight Center, is an airport terminal and hotel complex at John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) in New York City. The original terminal building, or head house, operated as a terminal from 1962 to 2001 and was Adaptive reuse, adaptively repurposed in 2017 as part of the TWA Hotel. The Royalton Hotel is a hotel at 44 West 44th Street in Midtown Manhattan, New York City, United States. The hotel, opened in 1898, was designed by architecture firm Rossiter & Wright and developed by civil engineer Edward G. Bailey. The 13-story building is made of brick, stone, terracotta, and iron. The Pasadena Hotel & Pool is a historic hotel located on Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena, California. It was built in 1926 as the Hotel Constance and closed in 2020. It was purchased by MCR Hotels in 2021 and re-opened as the Pasadena Hotel & Pool. History The Hotel Constance was founded by Pasadena businesswoman Constance V. L. Perry.
