MAN SL200
The MAN SL200 was a transit bus manufactured by MAN between 1973 and 1988, and was based on the first generation German VöV-Standard-Bus body design. More than 5500 units were built of the standard left-hand drive version. There were also several right-hand drive chassis versions available for external bodywork, some of which were delivered with the body frame. History The SL200 was superseded by the SL202. MAN SL202
The MAN SL202 was a single-decker bus manufactured by MAN in Salzgitter, Germany between 1983 and 1993. It was also available as a chassis for external bodywork. History The MAN SL202 succeeded the MAN SL200 in 1983. The SL202 came with a wide choice of transmissions, from three and four-speed Renk Doromat automatic transmissions, to three and four-speed Voith DIWA transmissions, to four and five-speed ZF Ecomat 4HP500 or 5HP500 transmissions. One to date has been retro-fitted with an Allison World Series B300R4 transmission, creating a largely noticeable increase in performance against similar examples with the three-speed Voith DIWA transmission. The internal combustion engines used in the SL202 were replaced around 1990, from older, smaller, 2566 series engines to newer, larger, 2866 series engines. The VöV-Standard-Bus is a standard for transit buses in Germany based on requirements by the VöV Association of German Transport Companies. The first concept was named (standard city bus) which resulted in multiple variants of VöV-Buses. The first generation was conceived in 1968 being in production to the mid 1980s when it was replaced by the second generation (sometimes abbreviated as SL-II) being in production up to 2000. History Post-war Germany had made good experiences with the definition of a standard body kit for tramways that were built onto old chassis in a coordinated refurbishment action. ''Truck & Bus Transportation'' was a Sydney-based monthly trade magazine covering aspects of transport in Australia. Overview ''Truck & Bus Transportation'' was established in July 1936 by Frank Shennen as ''Transportation''. It was renamed ''Truck & Bus Transportation'' in March 1940. It originally covered all forms of transport, but after a short while rail and tram news was withdrawn, with it focussing on the bus and truck industries. It was sold in 1986 to the Murray family. Shennen Publishing later founded ''Railway Transportation'' and ''Freight & Container Transportation'' that shared some content with ''Truck & Bus Transportation''. The Metropolitan Transit Authority (MTA), known to the general public as The Met, was a Government of Victoria owned corporate body that operated suburban passenger trains, trams and buses in Victoria, Australia. The Municipal Tramways Trust (MTT) was established by the Government of South Australia in December 1906 to purchase all of the horse-drawn tramways in Adelaide, Australia.
