MAN 18.240
The MAN 18.220 is a model of low-entry bus, low-entry single-decker bus, single-decker bus chassis manufactured by MAN Truck & Bus between 1998 and 2017, predominantly for the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland, Ireland. Over the course of nearly two decades of production, more than 1,000 were produced. The model was introduced as the MAN 18.220 in October 1998 as one of the first low-floor buses on the market, with the first examples being delivered to Stagecoach Oxfordshire. The vast majority were constructed with Alexander ALX300 bodywork for Stagecoach Group, who ordered more than 500 ALX300s in total between 1998 and 2007 as the predominant low-floor single-decker bus in their fleet. In addition, a small number of 18.220s were produced for independent operators with Ikarus Polaris and Marcopolo Viale bodywork, primarily in the United Kingdom and in Ireland respectively. Stagecoach in Oxfordshire is the trading name of Thames Transit Ltd. It is a bus operator serving the county of Oxfordshire, England. Since 1997 has been a subsidiary of Stagecoach Group, and since February 2021 it has been part of Stagecoach West, managed from the latter's headquarters in Gloucester. Stagecoach West Scotland is an operating region of Stagecoach UK Bus, comprising Western Buses Ltd based in Ayr, Scotland. History Stagecoach arrived in the west of Scotland when it purchased Western Scottish Omnibuses Ltd of Kilmarnock for £6 million in July 1994. Western Scottish was, at that time, owned by its management and employees, who had purchased the company from the state-owned Scottish Bus Group in October 1991 on the breakup and privatisation of that concern. Stagecoach wasted no time in expanding its operations in the west of Scotland, and in October 1994 purchased the small Arran Transport business based in Brodick, on the Isle Of Arran. Wright Meridian
The Wright Meridian was a low floor single-decker bus body built on the MAN NL273F chassis by Wrightbus. The body was essentially the same as the Eclipse. The first production vehicle was launched as a demonstrator in October 2007. It was later purchased by Whitelaw's Coaches of Stonehouse who ordered a further five. Konectbus is a bus operator based in Dereham in Norfolk, England. It is a subsidiary of the Go-Ahead Group and forms part of Go East Anglia. Compressed Natural Gas
Compressed natural gas (CNG) is a fuel gas mainly composed of methane (CH4), compressed to less than 1% of the volume it occupies at standard atmospheric pressure. It is stored and distributed in hard containers at a pressure of , usually in cylindrical or spherical shapes. CNG is used in traditional petrol/internal combustion engine vehicles that have been modified, or in vehicles specifically manufactured for CNG use: either alone (dedicated), with a segregated liquid fuel system to extend range (dual fuel), or in conjunction with another fuel ( bi-fuel). Founded in 1949, the magazine was originally published by Ian Allan Publishing, however from March 2012 onwards, it has been published by Key Publishing after their takeover of the former.
