MAEX
The MAEX (MunichAirportEXpress) is an alternative solution to the Transrapid required by the Munich city government for a fast train connection between Munich main station and the Munich airport. Concept The MAEX is an express S-train, and is designed to be routed from Munich's main railway station through the second main tunnel, on the current S8 train route East of the city, the Munich East-Munich Airport railway, to the airport. In addition to the two stops in the second main tunnel route, at the main station and Marienplatz, there will be an additional two stops at the Leuchtenbergring as well as in Unterföhring and Ismaning. For the realization of this route, the four-track expansion of the Munich North Ring in the Daglfing-Johanneskirchen area is required in addition to the changes in the second main tunnel. S-train
The S-Bahn is the name of hybrid urban-suburban rail systems serving a metropolitan region in German-speaking countries. Munich Marienplatz is an important stop on the Munich S-Bahn and U-Bahn network, located under the square of the same name in Munich's city centre. Ismaning Station
Ismaning station is a tunnel station on the Munich S-Bahn in the town of Ismaning in the northeast area of Munich, Germany. It is served by line S 8. History Until 1992 the former above-ground station was the terminus of the old S 3 line from Nannhofen via Munich-Pasing – Munich Hauptbahnhof – Munich Ostbahnhof to Ismaning. Originally it was intended to extend the line to the Franz Josef Strauss Airport by running the present-day S 8 above ground through the district. After local protests it was decided to lay the S-Bahn route from the southern edge of the district to Osterfeldstrasse in a tunnel. Munich North Ring (german: Münchner Nordring), section of which are only used by freight trains, is a railway bypass on the northern edge of the Bavarian state capital of Munich. The line’s importance for freight also partly arises from its access to the Munich North marshalling yard (''Rangierbahnhof München Nord'').
