M53 155mm Self-Propelled Gun
The M55 is an American fully enclosed and armored self-propelled howitzer based on the M53 155 mm self-propelled gun and with components taken from the M47 Patton. Description It has a 203.2 mm (eight-inch) howitzer which can traverse 30° left or right, carrying 10 rounds of ammunition when fully combat loaded. The gun has a maximum range of 10.51 miles (16.92 kilometers) with a rate of fire of one round every two minutes. A .50 caliber machine gun was mounted on top of the turret. The crew consists of six - a driver, commander, gunner, and three loaders. The M55 is lightly armored, 25 mm maximum, but sufficient to protect the crew from indirect artillery hits and small arms fire. The M53 has a 155mm gun, while the M55 uses the 203.2mm gun. The MG 42 (shortened from German: ''Maschinengewehr 42'', or "machine gun 42") is a German recoil-operated air-cooled general-purpose machine gun used extensively by the Wehrmacht and the Waffen-SS during the second half of World War II. Entering production in 1942, it was intended to supplement and replace the earlier MG 34, which was more expensive and took much longer to produce, but both weapons were produced until the end of World War II. M-53 (Michigan Highway)
M-53 is a north–south state trunkline highway in the US state of Michigan that connects Detroit to The Thumb region. The highway starts in Detroit at a connection with M-3 and ends in Port Austin, Michigan at M-25. In between, the trunkline passes through the northern suburbs of Metro Detroit, connects to freeways like Interstate 69 (I-69) and provides access to rural farmland. In Macomb County, M-53 follows the Christopher Columbus Freeway and POW/MIA Memorial Freeway, while the remainder of the highway is known as Van Dyke Avenue in the metro area or Van Dyke Road elsewhere. The highway has also been named the Earle Memorial Highway for one of the pioneers of the Good Roads Movement and Michigan's highway system. The M53 is an motorway in the Metropolitan Borough of Wirral, Merseyside and the Borough status in the United Kingdom, borough of Cheshire West and Chester, Cheshire on the Wirral Peninsula in England. It is also referred to as the Mid Wirral Motorway. It runs between the Kingsway Tunnel, at Wallasey in the north, and the A55 road, A55 at Chester. The main reason for the motorway was to provide a through route to the new Kingsway Tunnel, Mersey Road Tunnel, Kingsway, which was built at the same time. The M53 is a short metropolitan route in Greater Johannesburg, South Africa. It connects Germiston (capital of the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Municipality) with Vosloorus via Elsburg. Route The M53 begins in the Primrose suburb of Germiston, at a junction with the M14 route (Cydonia Road; Gorst Avenue). It begins by going southwards as Johan Rissik Road to reach a junction with the R29 route (Main Reef Road). Messier 53 (also known as M53 or NGC 5024) is a globular cluster in the Coma Berenices constellation. It was discovered by Johann Elert Bode in 1775. M53 is one of the more outlying globular clusters, being about light-years away from the Galactic Center, and almost the same distance (about ) from the Solar System. The cluster has a core radius (''rc'') of 2.18 pc, a half-light radius (''rh'') of 5.84 pc, and a tidal radius (''rtr'') of 239.9 pc. This is considered a metal-poor cluster and at one time was thought to be the most metal-poor cluster in the Milky Way. Abundance measurements of cluster members on the red giant branch show that most are first-generation stars.
