The M26 road is a metropolitan route in the City of Tshwane in Gauteng, South Africa. It is in the city of Centurion, connecting the R511 north of Diepsloot with Claudius via Erasmia. Route The M26 route begins at a junction with the R511 route approximately 4 kilometres north of Diepsloot. It heads north-east for 12 kilometres to cross the Hennops River and enter the suburb of Erasmia. Diepsloot ( ), Afrikaans for "deep ditch", is a densely populated township in Gauteng, South Africa. It is located in the Region A of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality. There are high levels of crimes here including illegal electricity connections and theft. Geography Diepsloot is a northern periphery of the City of Johannesburg Metropolitan Municipality and is divided into extensions. Laudium () is an Indian township southwest of central Pretoria, in the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality. Claudius is a residential suburb that is effectively an extension of Laudium. History Older aerial photographs show remains of circular type dwellings to the west of Laudium, built by its earliest inhabitants. The original name for Laudium was ''Claudius'', and it was initially planned as a white area, named after Claudius Marais de Vries who owned a farm called ''Mooiplats'' and was a former mayor of Pretoria. Centurion, South Africa
Centurion (previously known as Verwoerdburg and before that Lyttelton) is an area with 236,580 inhabitants (2011 census) in the Gauteng Province of South Africa, between Pretoria and Midrand. Formerly an independent municipality, with its own town council, it has been part of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality since 2000. Its heart is at the intersection of the N1 and N14 freeways. The R21 freeway also passes through the eastern part of Centurion. The Waterkloof Air Force Base, as well as the Swartkop Air Force Base (which includes the South African Air Force Museum), are in Centurion. R511 (South Africa)
The R511 is a Regional Route in South Africa that connects Sandton (north of Johannesburg) with Thabazimbi via Hartbeespoort and Brits. It is an alternative route to the R512 for travel between the Johannesburg Metropole and Brits. Hennops River
The Hennops River is one of the larger rivers that drains Gauteng, South Africa. It has its source near Kempton Park, east of Johannesburg and meets the Crocodile River shortly before Hartbeespoort Dam. It is one of Gauteng's most polluted rivers. Course The Hennops River starts in Terenure, Kempton Park, and flows in a northerly direction towards Tembisa township. It then flows past Olifantsfontein and meets the Sesmyl Spruit which flows out of the Rietvlei Dam. The river then turns north-west flowing through the centre of Centurion. The river continues in this direction flowing through the foothills of the Magaliesberg before flowing into the Crocodile River on its right bank near the Hartbeespoort Dam. R55 (South Africa)
The R55 is a north-south provincial route in Gauteng, South Africa that connects Sandton with Pretoria. It passes Woodmead, Kyalami, Olievenhoutbosch, Heuweloord, Sunderland Ridge, Erasmia, Laudium/Claudius, West Park, the Daspoort Tunnel and Danville. It connects with the M1, N14, and R80 highways. It is also designated as the ''P66-1'' and ''K71'' (newly constructed dual carriageway sections) by the Gauteng Provincial Government.
