Lynx
A lynx ( ; : lynx or lynxes) is any of the four wikt:extant, extant species (the Canada lynx, Iberian lynx, Eurasian lynx and the bobcat) within the medium-sized wild Felidae, cat genus ''Lynx''. The name originated in Middle English via Latin from the Greek word (), derived from the Indo-European root (, ), in reference to the luminescence of its tapetum lucidum, reflective eyes. Appearance Lynx have a short tail, characteristic tufts of black hair on the tips of their ears, large, padded paws for walking on snow and long whiskers on the face. Under their neck, they have a ruff, which has black bars resembling a bow tie, although this is often not visible. Body colour varies from medium brown to goldish to beige-white, and is occasionally marked with dark brown spots, especially on the limbs. Lynx (snowmobile)
Lynx is a Finnish snowmobile brand, manufactured and distributed by Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP), which has made many unique inventions in snowmobile technology. Lynx is a part of a Canadian company BRP. The first Lynx snowmobile was introduced by the Finnish company Velsa Oy in Kurikka in 1968. The newest Lynx snowmobiles are built on Ski-Doo platform with minor differences, but they use a different rear suspension called PPS (Pauli Piippola Suspension) made for rougher conditions than a traditional Ski-Doo suspension system, which is not as tough or heavy as the PPS system. French Destroyer Lynx
The French destroyer ''Lynx'' was a (''contre-torpilleur'') built for the French Navy during the 1920s. The ''Chacal''s were regarded as obsolete by 1935 and ''Lynx'' became a training ship for the torpedo school at Toulon that year. She was assigned convoy escort duties in the Atlantic after the start of World War II in September 1939. In July 1940, the ship was present when the British attacked the French ships at Mers-el-Kébir, but managed to escape without damage. After she reached Toulon, ''Lynx'' was placed in reserve where she remained for the next two years. On 27 November 1942, she was scuttled at Toulon when the Germans attempted to capture the French ships there. Her wreck was salvaged in 1944, but she was not broken up until 1948. WestCAT is a public transportation service in western Contra Costa County (north of Alameda County, California, Alameda County). It is a service of the Western Contra Costa Transit Authority. The Lynx Express was a long-distance passenger train in the South Island of New Zealand that ran the length of the Main North Line between Picton and Christchurch. The service was operated by New Zealand Rail Limited business unit InterCity Rail. Lynx Aviation, Inc. was a regional airline based in Denver, Colorado, United States. The airline began as a sister company to, and operated feeder service for, Frontier Airlines. The Lynx name played off of the tail pictures of its planes, specifically Larry the Lynx, and the fact that it "linked" smaller airports to the main Denver hub of Frontier Airlines. All flights operated by Lynx Aviation were sold and marketed as "Frontier Airlines operated by Lynx Aviation." Lynx Air International was a United States airline based in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, USA. History The airline was established by C.A. Southerland and Steve Adams in 1989 as the first commercial airline offering direct service from the US to Cap-Haïtien, on the north coast of Haiti. Lynx Air International had at its peak 117 full-time employees in five countries (April 2008), and operated scheduled service to 7 destinations in the Bahamas, as well as Cap-Haïtien, Haiti and Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.
