Lynwood Arnold
Lynwood Arnold (October 6, 1916 – July 11, 2001) was an American politician. He served as a Democratic member for the 23rd district of the Florida House of Representatives. He also served as a member for the 9th district of the Florida Senate. Life and career Arnold was born in Jacksonville, Florida. He attended Stetson University and served in the United States Navy. In 1963, Arnold was elected to the Florida House of Representatives. In 1967, he was elected as the first representative for the newly-established 23rd district. He served until 1970, when he was succeeded by John R. Forbes. In the same year, he was elected to represent the 9th district of the Florida Senate, serving until 1972. Arnold died in July 2001 in Brooksville, Florida Brooksville is a city in and the county seat of Hernando County, Florida, Hernando County, Florida, in the United States. ''The Florida Times-Union'' is a daily newspaper in Jacksonville, Florida, United States. Widely known as the oldest newspaper in the state, it began publication as the ''Florida Union'' in 1864. Its current incarnation started in 1883, when the ''Florida Union'' merged with another Jacksonville paper, the ''Florida Daily Times''. In 1983, Morris Communications of Augusta, Georgia, purchased Florida Publishing Company. ''The Times-Union'' became the largest newspaper of this chain, which owns a number of newspapers around the country. The paper is now owned by Gannett. Its editor is Paul Runnestrand. Stetson University is a private university in DeLand, Florida, United States. Established in 1883 as DeLand Academy, it was later renamed John B. Stetson University in honor of John B. Stetson. The university's main campus in DeLand spans 175 acres and is composed of four colleges and schools: the College of Arts and Sciences, the School of Music, the School of Business Administration, and the Stetson University College of Law.
