Lynne Haultain
Lynne Haultain is an Australian communication specialist, senior executive and former radio presenter, arguably best known for her work at the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. She began her radio career as a trainee broadcast officer at the ABC in Perth. She transferred to ABC Radio Hobart in 1990 and presented ''Nights'' and ''Drive'' before moving to Melbourne in 1992 to present the national overnight program ''Beyond Midnight''. Nearly three years later Haultain took a role as senior reporter and presenter with ABC Rural, hosting ''Countrywide'' for Radio National. In 1997, she presented ''The Law Report'' on ABC Radio National. Haultain moved to ABC Local Radio to host the regional edition of ''Drive'' in Victoria before moving to 774 ABC Melbourne in 1998 where she presented ''Breakfast'' for more than four years. History Of ABC Radio (Australia)
ABC Radio and Regional Content, later ABC Radio, was the division of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation responsible for radio output and regional content. Origins The first public radio station in Australia opened in Sydney at 8:00pm on 23 November 1923 under the call sign 2SB. Other stations in Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Perth and Hobart followed. A licensing scheme administered by the Postmaster-General's Department, was soon established allowing certain stations government funding, albeit with restrictions placed on their advertising content. In 1924 the licensing system was changed. The Postmaster-General's Department collected all licence fees and broadcasters were funded as either A-Class or B-Class stations. A-Class stations received government funding and were able to take limited advertising, while B-Class stations received no government funding but could carry more advertising. ABC Radio Perth (call sign: 6WF) is the on-air identifier of a radio station located in Perth, Western Australia, operated by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, and broadcasting at 720 kHz AM. ABC Radio Hobart
ABC Radio Hobart (call sign: 7ZR) is the ABC Local Radio station for Hobart, Tasmania, owned by the Australian Broadcasting Corporation. History Officially opened on 22 June 1938, plans surrounding the initial broadcast of 7ZR were forced to be amended due to a cable fault between Tasmania and the mainland. The opening broadcast was intended to be part of a national program with prime minister Joseph Lyons declaring the station officially open in a live broadcast from Canberra. However, because of the fault, the opening broadcast was a statewide program rather than a national program with Lyons pre-recording his opening remarks which were then played during the opening broadcast. ABC Rural
ABC Rural was a department of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation that produced news, business, and entertainment programs targeted at audiences in regional Australia. The department employed 70 staff and reporters around the country. In 2015, the Rural department was rolled into the ABC's Regional division as part of a restructure of the organisation. The Rural department continues to operate as part of the ABC's Regional and Local division, with Rural Reporters stationed in most of the regional offices and Country Hour executive producers and presenters in each capital city. Redmond Symons (born 13 June 1949) is an Australian musician and television and radio personality. He was the lead guitarist in the band Skyhooks, the snide judge of 'Red Faces' (a segment of the long-running variety show '' Hey Hey It's Saturday'') and a judge on talent search show '' Australia's Got Talent''. He hosted ABC Radio Melbourne's breakfast show from 2003 until 2017. Francis Leach
Francis Leach (born 1968) is an Australian radio announcer, sports editor and journalist. Early life Leach grew up in Public housing, commission housing in the Melbourne suburb of Broadmeadows, Victoria, Broadmeadows. He attended secondary school at Therry College (now part of Penola Catholic College) and St. Bernard's College, Melbourne, St Bernard’s College.
