Lydia Klinkenberg
Lydia Klinkenberg (born 3 October 1981) is a Belgian politician, currently serving as Minister of Family, Social Affairs, Housing and Health of the Government of the German-speaking Community. She is a member of the ProDG party. Career She was first elected to the Parliament of the German-speaking Community in 2009. In October 2020, she was named Minister of Education for the German-speaking community in Belgium. In March 2021, she gathered with the Flemish and Wallonian education ministers to call on the federal government to make teachers a priority in COVID-19 vaccination targets. ProDG (Belgium)
ProDG (, ) is a Regionalism (politics), regionalist, Christian democracy, Christian-democratic Political parties in Belgium, political party active in the German-speaking Community of Belgium. The party brings together politicians from the previous Party of German-speaking Belgians (PDB) and Parteilos Jugendliche Unabhängige (PJU) movement. The party was formed in 2008 and first featured on the electoral ballot in 2009. Following the 2009 Belgian regional elections, 2009 regional election, the party won four out of 25 seats in the Parliament of the German-speaking Community, Parliament and participated in the regional Government of the German-speaking Community of Belgium with two ministers. The Parliament of the German-speaking Community ( or PDG) is the legislative assembly of the German-speaking Community of Belgium located in Eupen. The most important tasks of the Parliament of the German-speaking Community include the election and the supervision of the Government of the German-speaking Community, the adoption of decrees for the German-speaking Community and the preparation and adoption of the annual budget. Members and elections The Parliament of the German-speaking Community has 25 members who are directly elected every 5 years, to run in tandem with the European Parliament elections.
