Luxolo Adams
Luxolo Adams (born 1 August 1996) is a South African sprinter. He won a silver medal in Men's 200 m at the inaugural Athletics World Cup in 2018. In 2018 he competed at the African Championships in Asaba and won the bronze medal in the 200 metres. In June 2022, he ran a personal best of 19.82 seconds for the 200 m to win the Paris Diamond League Meeting de Paris (formerly known as the Meeting Areva and Meeting Gaz de France) is an annual track and field meeting at the Stade Sébastien Charléty in Paris, France. Burgersdorp
Burgersdorp is a medium-sized town in Walter Sisulu in the Joe Gqabi District Municipality of the Eastern Cape province of South Africa. In 1869 a Theological Seminary was established here by the ''Gereformeerde Kerk'', but in 1905 it was moved to Potchefstroom, acting as an instrument in the formation of the PUK in 1919, then becoming the Potchefstroom University for Christian Higher Education in 1951. Sprinting is running over a short distance at the top-most speed of the body in a limited period of time. It is used in many sports that incorporate running, typically as a way of quickly reaching a target or goal, or avoiding or catching an opponent. 200 Metres
The 200 metres, or 200-meter dash, is a sprint running event. On an outdoor 400 metre racetrack, the race begins on the curve and ends on the home straight, so a combination of techniques is needed to successfully run the race. A slightly shorter race, called the '' stadion'' and run on a straight track, was the first recorded event at the ancient Olympic Games. The 200 m places more emphasis on speed endurance than shorter sprint distances as athletes predominantly rely on anaerobic energy system during the 200 m sprint. Similarly to other sprint distances, the 200 m begins from the starting blocks. When the sprinters adopt the 'set' position in the blocks they are able to adopt a more efficient starting posture and isometrically preload their muscles. 2018 Athletics World Cup
The 2018 Athletics World Cup was held in London, United Kingdom, from 14 to 15 July 2018. This was the first and only edition of this competition. Each team entered one athlete per event, and points were gained on the basis of finishing position. Although the majority of World championship events were contested, no races over 1500 metres were held, and no road events or multievents are on the program. The competition focused on an overall team prize, team prize money, The Platinum Trophy and Platinum team medals, but individual gold, silver and bronze medals were also awarded in each individual event. While the event is organised outside of the official IAAF structures, the IAAF has expressed support for the event notwithstanding the existence of its own IAAF Continental Cup event. Asaba, Delta
Asaba is the capital city of Delta State, Nigeria. It is located at the western bank of the Niger River, in the Oshimili South Local Government Area. Asaba had a population of 149,603 as at the 2006 census, and a metropolitan population of over half a million people. 2022 Diamond League
The 2022 Diamond League was the thirteenth season of the Diamond League, an annual series of outdoor track and field meetings, organised by World Athletics. The competition was a revision to the top level athletics series since the Diamond League was founded in 2010. The number of Diamond Discipline events was 32, and the dual-meet final format was due to be replaced by a single final, which would have expanded the number of meetings to 14. A second Chinese meeting was added to the calendar. The reduction of events was aimed at allowing a standardized 120-minute television format for the series. Each meeting will host a number of Diamond Discipline events, only some of which would be broadcast. Andre De Grasse
Andre De Grasse (born November 10, 1994) is a Canadian sprinter. A six-time Olympic medallist, De Grasse is the reigning Olympic champion in the 200 m, and also won the silver in the 200 m in 2016. He won a second silver in the 4×100 relay in 2020. He also has three Olympic bronze medals, placing third in the 100 m at both the 2016 and 2020 Games, and also in the 4×100 m relay in 2016.
