Luster is a List of municipalities of Norway, municipality in Vestland counties of Norway, county, Norway. It is located at the end of the Sognefjorden in the Districts of Norway, traditional district of Sogn. The administrative centre is the village of Gaupne. Other villages in Luster include Fortun (village), Fortun, Hafslo (village), Hafslo, Indre Hafslo, Jostedal, Luster (village), Luster, Nes, Sogn og Fjordane, Nes, Ornes, Sogn og Fjordane, Ornes, Skjolden, Solvorn, and Veitastrond. In textiles, lustre or luster is a physical property that makes them appear bright, glossy, and shiny. The amount of light reflected from the surface of a fiber is referred to as its luster. The level of luster is determined by how light reflects off the surface. For example, round surfaced fiber reflects more light and appears shinier than fiber with an irregular surface. Synthetic fibers with a more regular surface seem brighter than natural fibers with an irregular surface, with the exception of silk, which has a regular surface. Operation Lustre was an action during the Second World War: the movement of British and other Allied troops (Australian, Indian, South African, New Zealand, Czech and Polish) from Egypt to Greece in March and April 1941, in response to the failed Italian invasion and the looming threat of German intervention. USS ''Luster'' (IX‑82), was a yacht which served in the United States Navy as a patrol boat during World War II. She was built as ''Ko‑Asa'' in 1936 by M. M. Davis & Sons of Solomons, Maryland, and purchased by the Navy from George Marshall Allen of New York City on 21 July 1942; and placed in service on 14 August 1942. Service history Renamed ''Luster'' on 2 September 1942, the converted yacht was assigned to the 7th Naval District Local Defense Force, Port Everglades section, on 14 August.
