Lusitania Tatafu
Karoline Lusitania "Lusi" Tatafu (born 20 February 1998) is a Tongan recurve archer who competed at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics and the 2016 Summer Olympics. Tatafu made her international debut at the 2012 New Zealand National Championships, and was awarded a universality place to compete at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics. In 2015 she achieved a silver medal at the New Zealand National Championships, and the following year made her senior Olympic debut at the 2016 Summer Olympics, participating in the women's individual event. She finished the 72-arrow ranking round in 63rd position out of 64 and was eliminated by South Korea's Chang Hye-jin Chang Hye-jin ( ko, 장혜진; or ; born 13 May 1987) is a South Korean former recurve archer. Recurve Bow
In archery, a recurve bow is one of the main shapes a bow can take, with limbs that curve away from the archer when unstrung. A recurve bow stores more energy and delivers energy more efficiently than the equivalent straight-limbed bow, giving a greater amount of energy and speed to the arrow. A recurve will permit a shorter bow than the simple straight limb bow for given arrow energy, and this form was often preferred by archers in environments where long weapons could be cumbersome, such as in brush and forest terrain, or while on horseback. Recurved limbs also put greater stress on the materials used to make the bow, and they may make more noise with the shot. Extreme recurves make the bow unstable when being strung. The 2014 Summer Youth Olympics (), officially known as the II Summer Youth Olympic Games , and commonly known as Nanjing 2014 ( zh, c=南京2014, p=Nánjīng Èr Líng yī sì), were the second Summer Youth Olympic Games, an international sports, education and cultural festival for teenagers, held from 16 to 28 August 2014 in Nanjing, China. Youth Olympic Games
The Youth Olympic Games (YOG) is an international multi-sport event for athletes between 15 and 18 years old, organized by the International Olympic Committee. The games are held every four years in staggered summer and winter events consistent with the current Olympic Games format, though in reverse order with Olympic Winter Games held in leap years instead of Summer Olympic Games. The first summer version was held in Singapore from 14 to 26 August 2010 while the first winter version was held in Innsbruck, Austria from 13 to 22 January 2012. Archery At The 2014 Summer Youth Olympics
Archery at the 2014 Summer Youth Olympics was held from 22 to 26 August. The events took place at the Fangshan Sports Training Base in Nanjing, China. Qualification Each National Olympic Committee (NOC) could enter a maximum of 2 competitors, 1 per each gender. As hosts, China was given the maximum quota, however they declined the spot for the boys' event and thus the spot was reallocated to the next best nation at the 2013 World Archery Youth Championships. A further 8 spots, 4 in each gender was to be decided by the Tripartite Commission, but only 5 were given. The next three sports, followed by the remaining 54 spots were decided by qualification events at the previous world youth championships and the five continental qualification tournaments. Chang Hye-jin
Chang Hye-jin ( ko, 장혜진; or ; born 13 May 1987) is a South Korean former recurve archer. A two-time Olympic gold medalist, Chang was the Olympic champion in both the women's individual and women's team events at 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. She is also a former number one-ranked recurve archer, having headed the World Archery Rankings between 2017 and 2019. After being introduced to archery at the age of eleven, Chang made her international debut in 2008. She first qualified for the senior South Korean national team in 2010 and over the next nine years regularly represented her country at international competitions, winning team gold medals at the World Archery Championships, the World Cup finals, the Asian Games, and the Summer Universiade.
