Gaula (Trøndelag)
The Gaula is a river that flows through the Gauldal valley in Trøndelag county, Norway. The long river is the largest in Central Norway. The river begins in Holtålen Municipality near the mountain Kjølifjellet. It then flows through Holtålen Municipality, Midtre Gauldal Municipality, and Melhus Municipality before emptying into Trondheimsfjord near Nypan/Leinstrand on the border between Trondheim Municipality and Melhus Municipality. The Gaula River is approximately long and it drains a watershed of about . On its way, it is joined by one large tributary, the Sokna, at the village of Støren in Midtre Gauldal Municipality. Horg Church
Horg Church () is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Melhus Municipality in Trøndelag county, Norway. It is located just south of the village of Lundamo, on the east side of the European route E06 highway and the river Gaula. It is the church for the Horg parish which is part of the Gauldal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Nidaros. The white, wooden church was built in a cruciform style in 1893 using plans drawn up by the architect Carl J. Bergstrøm. The church seats about 700 people. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1533, but the church was not new that year. The first church in Horg was located at Grinni, about to the southwest of the present church site. That church was a stave church that was likely built during the second half of the 12th century. Horg is a former municipality in the old Sør-Trøndelag county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1841 until its dissolution in 1964. Horg Municipality encompassed the southern part of what is now Melhus Municipality in Trøndelag county. The municipality included areas on both sides of the river Gaula. European Route E6
European route E6 (, , or simply E6) is the main north–south thoroughfare through Norway as well as the west coast of Sweden. It is long and runs from the southern tip of Sweden at Trelleborg, into Norway and through almost all of the country north to the Arctic Circle and Nordkapp. The route ends in Kirkenes close to the Russian border. Route From south to north, the E6 runs through Trelleborg, Malmö, Helsingborg, Halmstad, Gothenburg, Svinesund in Sweden, before crossing the border at the Svinesund Bridge into Norway. The Dovre Line () is a Norwegian railway line with three slightly different lines which all lead to the historic city of Trondheim (city), Trondheim.
