Lunca Ilvei () is a commune in Bistrița-Năsăud County, Transylvania, Romania. It is composed of a single village, Lunca Ilvei. The village is part of the Via Transilvanica long-distance trail and marks the transition from its ''Bucovina'' section to the ''Highlands'' section. Geography The commune is located in the eastern part of Bistrița-Năsăud County, about from the county seat, Bistrița, on the border with Suceava County. Bistrița-Năsăud () is a county (județ) of Romania, in Transylvania, with its capital city at Bistrița. Name In Hungarian language, Hungarian, it is known as ''Beszterce-Naszód megye'', and in German language, German as ''Kreis Bistritz-Nassod''. Via Transilvanica 'The Transylvanian Trail' is a hiking trail that crosses the Transylvania, Bukovina and Banat regions of Romania, and is meant to promote their cultural, ethnic, historical and natural diversity.
