Luminiș
The Luminiș Villa, George Enescu Memorial House is located in the Cumpătu district, the only suburb of Sinaia, Romania. The villa is situated on the right bank of Prahova River. It was owned by the Romanian composer and musician George Enescu (1881–1955). The villa was built between 1923 and 1926 by architect Radu Dudescu, and is an example of Neo-Brâncovenesc style. History The town of Sinaia and Luminiș Villa held a special significance for Enescu, who considered them his places of refuge. Enescu was both sentimentally and professionally connected to this town, mainly due to Queen Elisabeth's support of his musical career. Relatively isolated among the Bucegi Mountains, Luminiș Villa become his main retreat. The villa is furnished and decorated with elements from both Romanian and Asian cultures. Sinaia
Sinaia () is a town and a mountain resort in Prahova County, Romania. It is situated in the historical region of Muntenia. The town was named after the Sinaia Monastery of 1695, around which it was built. The monastery, in turn, is named after the Biblical Mount Sinai. King Carol I of Romania also built his summer residence, Peleș Castle, in Sinaia in the late nineteenth century. Sinaia is about northwest of Ploiești and south of Brașov, in a mountainous area on the Prahova River valley, just east of the Bucegi Mountains. The town's altitude varies between above sea level. The city is a popular destination for hiking and winter sports, especially downhill skiing. Ion Irimescu
Ion Irimescu (27 February 1903 – 28 October 2005) was one of Romania's greatest sculptors and sketchers as well as a member of the Romanian Academy. In 2001 he was awarded the Prize of Excellence for Romanian Culture. He is often referred to as the "patriarch of Romanian art and sculpture". Biography He was born in Fălticeni, the son of Petre Irimescu and Maria Cazaban, and had two brothers: Alexandru and Verona. After the graduating from Primary School No. 1 in Fălticeni in 1915, he followed the secondary course at Nicu Gane High School from the same city (1915–1924), where he took part in the theatre, creating the decorations. George Enescu Festival
The George Enescu Festival (also known as George Enescu International Festival and Competition), held in honor of the celebrated Romanian composer George Enescu, is the biggest classical music festival and classical international competition held in Romania and one of the biggest in Eastern Europe. The festival proposal was authored by Andrei Tudor in 1955.
