Lukivtsi
Lukivtsi (; ) is a village and rural council in Vyzhnytsia Raion, Chernivtsi Oblast, Ukraine. It belongs to Berehomet settlement hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. The rural council is composed of five villages: Lipovany (Липовани; Lipoveni), Lukivtsi, Maidan (Майдан; Maidan-Lucavăț), Vakhnivtsi (Вахнівці, Vahnăuți) and Vovchynets (Вовчинець, Volcineț). Mihail Gușuleac
Mihail Gușuleac (October 12, 1887–September 11, 1960) was an Austro-Hungarian-born Romanian botanist. Gușuleac was born in Lucavăț, a village located west of the Duchy of Bukovina’s capital Cernăuți, where he attended high school from 1899 to 1907. He then studied at Czernowitz University from 1907 to 1911, in the natural sciences department of the science faculty. He specialized in marine biology at the zoological station in Trieste, and in systematic morphology and phytogeography at the universities of Vienna, Prague and Halle. His 1926 doctorate from Prague dealt with the structure of the Bromeliaceae stomata. He taught at high schools in Câmpulung Moldovenesc (1917-1919), Prague and Suceava (1912-1915, 1918–1919). He taught botany at Cernăuți University (1921-1939) and was dean of the science faculty (1928-1930). Vyzhnytsia Raion
Vyzhnytsia Raion () is an administrative raion (district) in the southern part of Chernivtsi Oblast, located in the historical region of Bukovina, in western Ukraine, on the Romanian border. The region has an area of and centers on the city of Vyzhnytsia. Population: On 18 July 2020, as part of the administrative reform of Ukraine, the number of raions of Chernivtsi Oblast was reduced to three, and the area of Vyzhnytsia Raion was significantly expanded. Chernivtsi Oblast
Chernivtsi Oblast (), also referred to as Chernivechchyna (), is an oblast (province) in western Ukraine, consisting of the northern parts of the historical regions of Bukovina and Bessarabia. It has an international border with Romania and Moldova. The region spans . The oblast is the smallest in Ukraine both by area and population. Berehomet Settlement Hromada
Berehomet (; ; ; ) is a rural settlement in Vyzhnytsia Raion, Chernivtsi Oblast, western Ukraine. It hosts the administration of Berehomet settlement hromada, one of the hromadas of Ukraine. The settlement lies on the Siret River. As of the 2001 census, the settlement's population was 8,513. Population: One village is administered by the settlement, Zarichchia (). History The first mention of the village was in 1696. Starting in 1963, Berehomet was designated an urban-type settlement. Hromada
In Ukraine, a hromada () is the main type of municipality and the third level Administrative divisions of Ukraine, local self-government in Ukraine. The current hromadas were established by the Cabinet of ministers of Ukraine, Government of Ukraine on 12 June 2020. A municipality is designated ''urban hromada'' if its administration is located in a city; ''settlement hromada'' if it is located in a settlement (''selyshche''), and ''rural hromada'' if it is located in a village (Village#Ukraine, ''selo'') or a ''selyshche''. Hromadas are grouped to form Raions of Ukraine, raions (districts); groups of raions form Oblasts of Ukraine, oblasts (regions).
