Lukestar
Lukestar was an indie rock band based in Oslo, Norway. , the band was signed to the label 'Tuba Records', among others. They are known for their musical fusion of hardcore punk and indie rock. Biography The band was formed in 1995 under the name Luke Warm, but the name was later changed to Lukestar. In 2002, they released their first EP entitled ''Code: Distance,'' and two years later, in 2004, they released their debut full-length album ''Alpine Unit''. In January 2008, the band's second album ''Lake Toba'' was released. Also in 2008, band members Even Djønne, and Eirik L. Bærulfsen, were replaced by Jørgen Larsen, and Torbjørn Hafnor, from hardcore punk band ''The Spectacle''. Lukestar received the 2008 Spelleman Award (The Norwegian Grammy Award 2008, Spellemannprisen), in the category ''Best Rock Band'' for the album ''Lake Toba''. My Midnight Creeps
My Midnight Creeps (initiated 2003 in Oslo, Norway) was a Norwegian rock band fronted by Madrugada-guitarist Robert Burås and Ricochets-guitarist Alex Kloster-Jensen. Biography Other members included Dag Stiberg on tenor saxophone, Behzad Farazollahi on drums, Anders Møller on percussion and Raymond Jensen on bass. Keyboardist Mikael Lindqvist also appeared on their first album, ''My Midnight Creeps''. The band's music carried inspiration from The Stooges, as well as The Rolling Stones and The Animals. Their critically acclaimed second album ''Histamin'' received six out of six points in a review in Norwegian newspaper ''Verdens Gang''. John Olav Nilsen & Gjengen (Norwegian: ''John Olav Nilsen & the Gang'') was a Norwegian rock-pop band formed in 2006 in Loddefjord, Bergen. It was fronted by singer-songwriter and main vocalist John Olav Nilsen, and released three studio albums before breaking up in 2013. The band's lyrics are entirely in Norwegian. History The band was formed in 2006 and took their namesake from songwriter and frontman John Olav Nilsen (born 20 December 1982). Flameshovel Records is a record label from Chicago, Illinois, formed in the summer of 2000. Founded by Jesse Woghin and long-time friend Nash Grey, the duo were later joined by James Kenler. Grey left for Philadelphia in 2003 to start grad school but the remaining partners forged ahead. The label has since put out 43 releases, including releases by Maritime, Chin Up Chin Up, Lying in States, and Bound Stems. The Spellemannprisen (also referred to as the Norwegian Grammy Awards) is a Norwegian music award ceremony presented by IFPI Norge and FONO. Post-hardcore Groups
Post-hardcore is a punk rock music genre that maintains the aggression and intensity of hardcore punk but emphasizes a greater degree of creative expression. Like the term "post-punk", the term "post-hardcore" has been applied to a broad constellation of groups. Initially taking inspiration from post-punk and noise rock, post-hardcore began in the 1980s with bands like Hüsker Dü and Minutemen. The genre expanded in the 1980s and 1990s with releases by bands from cities which had established hardcore scenes, such as Fugazi from Washington, D.C. as well as groups such as Big Black, Jawbox, Quicksand, and Shellac who stuck closer to post-hardcore's noise rock roots. Oslo
Oslo ( or ; ) is the capital and most populous city of Norway. It constitutes both a county and a municipality. The municipality of Oslo had a population of in 2022, while the city's greater urban area had a population of 1,064,235 in 2022, and the metropolitan area had an estimated population of in 2021. During the Viking Age, the area was part of Viken.
