Luke Blackaby
Luke Alexander Blackaby (born 1 February 1991) is an English cricketer. Blackaby is a left-handed Batsman (cricket), batsman who bowls left-arm Seam bowling, medium pace. He was born in Farnborough, London, Farnborough, Kent and was educated at Wildernesse School. While studying for his degree in Sports at Durham University, Blackaby made his first-class cricket, first-class debut for Durham MCC University, Durham MCCU against Durham County Cricket Club, Durham in 2010. He made four further first-class appearances for the team, the last of which came against Yorkshire County Cricket Club, Yorkshire in 2011. In his five first-class matches, he scored 116 runs at an batting average (cricket), average of 16.57, with a high score of 38. Farnborough is a village in south-eastern Greater London, England, located in the historic county of Kent. Situated south of Locksbottom, west of Green Street Green, north of Downe and Hazelwood, and east of Keston, it is centred southeast of Charing Cross. In cricket, a player's batting average is the total number of runs they have scored divided by the number of times they have been out, usually given to two decimal places. Since the number of runs a player scores and how often they get out are primarily measures of their own playing ability, and largely independent of their teammates, batting average is a good metric for an individual player's skill as a batter (although the practice of drawing comparisons between players on this basis is not without criticism). Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) is a cricket club founded in 1787 and based since 1814 at Lord's Cricket Ground, which it owns, in St John's Wood, London. In cricket, a player's bowling average is the number of runs they have conceded per wicket taken. The lower the bowling average is, the better the bowler is performing. It is one of a number of statistics used to compare bowlers, commonly used alongside the economy rate and the strike rate to judge the overall performance of a bowler. When a bowler has taken only a small number of wickets, their bowling average can be artificially high or low, and unstable, with further wickets taken or runs conceded resulting in large changes to their bowling average. Yorkshire County Cricket Club is one of 18 first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Yorkshire.
