Croatian Language
Croatian (; ) is the standard language, standardised Variety (linguistics)#Standard varieties, variety of the Serbo-Croatian pluricentric language mainly used by Croats. It is the national official language and literary standard of Croatia, one of the official languages of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, the Serbian province of Vojvodina, the European Union and a recognized minority language elsewhere in Serbia and other neighbouring countries. In the mid-18th century, the first attempts to provide a Croatian literary standard began on the basis of the Neo-Shtokavian dialect that served as a supraregional lingua franca – pushing back regional Chakavian, Kajkavian, and Shtokavian vernaculars. The decisive role was played by Croatian Vukovians, who cemented the usage of Ijekavian Neo-Shtokavian as the literary standard in the late 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, in addition to designing a phonological orthography. Tomislav Radić
Tomislav Radić (8 December 1940 – 7 March 2015) was a Croatian film director and screenwriter. Born in Zagreb, Radić graduated from both University of Zagreb's Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences and Academy of Dramatic Art. Lived in Zagreb, was two times married and has three children: two daughters and a son. In the 1960s Radić made a name for himself as a theatre director, with his greatest success being a stage production of Raymond Queneau's '' Exercises in Style'', which has been continuously on the program of &TD Theatre in Zagreb since 1968 to this day. He then turned to television and directed a number of documentaries and drama series for TV Zagreb, before his first feature film debut '' Živa istina'' in 1972. Ivo Gregurević
Ivo Gregurević (; 7 October 1952 – 1 January 2019) was a Croatian film, theatre and television actor. Throughout over a quarter of a century, Gregurević played rural bullies and arrogant nouveau riche and became one of Croatia's best known and most lauded character actors. Biography Born in the village of Donja Mahala, Ivo was the child of Marko and Jela Gregurević. He graduated from the Zagreb Academy of Dramatic Art, and has worked in over 90 movies and television programs since the late 1970s; in particular, he acted in almost all of Croatian movies after gaining independence in 1991. Antun Šoljan (1 December 1932 – 12 July 1993) was a Croatian writer in a period of Cold War who appeared as a part of the literary magazine ''Krugovi'' (Circles, from 1952 onwards). Šoljan was active as a poet, novelist, short story writer, essayist, literary critic and translator. He wrote four novels: ''Izdajice'' (1961, Traitors), ''Kratki izlet'' (1965, A Brief Excursion), ''Luka'' (1976, The Harbour) and ''Drugi ljudi na mjesecu'' (1978, Other People on the Moon), as well as short stories, theatre and radio plays and poems.
