Luis Ospina
Luis Alfonso Ospina Garcés (1949–2019) was a Colombian film director. Biography Ospina was born in Cali, Colombia in 1949. He grew up during ''La Violencia''. As a child, Ospina became interested in horror films and Western film, Westerns. Ospina studied film at the University of Southern California before attending the University of California, Los Angeles until 1972. He was involved in student movements opposition to United States involvement in the Vietnam War, against the Vietnam War. During trips back to Cali, he began making films with his childhood friend Carlos Mayolo. Their first short film ''Oiga, Vea!'' documented the lives of poor, predominantly Afro-Colombian residents during the 1971 Pan American Games. Their 1977 film ''The Vampires of Poverty'' was a mockumentary satirizing the treatment of human subjects in documentary films. Mockumentary
A mockumentary (a blend of ''mock'' and ''documentary''), fake documentary or docu-comedy is a type of film or television show depicting fictional events but presented as a documentary. These productions are often used to analyze or comment on current events and issues by using a fictional setting, or to parody the documentary form itself. While mockumentaries are usually comedic, pseudo-documentaries are their dramatic equivalents. However, pseudo-documentary should not be confused with docudrama, a fictional genre in which dramatic techniques are combined with documentary elements to depict real events. The Monster of the Mangones is the name given to an unidentified Colombian serial killer who, between the 1960s and 1970s, murdered between 30 and 38 preadolescent and teenage boys in Cali. Believed to be a native of the city, he would kidnap and later kill most of his victims in various remote vacant lots. At the time, it was the most notorious criminal case in the country's history. For some, the Monster was a simple myth or legend, while others believe that he actually existed, later earning comparisons with Luis Garavito. ''Pura Sangre'' ( es, Pure blood) is a 1982 Colombian drama thriller horror film directed by Luis Ospina starring Gilberto Forero, Carlos Mayolo, Florina Lemaitre, Humberto Arango and Luis Alberto García. The film is based on true events about the 'Monster of the Mangones'; apparently Adolfo Aristizabal, a sadist, psychopath who murdered 30 children between the ages of 8 and 13 and an unsolved case in the Colombian justice system. They were mostly street dwellers or young people who walked near the Mangones; an area of Cali where there were unbuilt spaces and buildings are isolated from each other, making it easy to capture anyone in the dark of night. To this was added the myth that the person presumed responsible for these deaths was a wealthy man who suffered from leukemia and the appearance of him was dying and cadaverous.
