The name is a pun on the verb "avecinarse", which means both "become neighbour to" and "approach", and is used in expression ''la que se avecina'' meaning "the trouble that is approaching", so it alludes both to being neighbours and the friction that exists between the characters. ''La que se avecina'' debuted on Telecinco, and was later rerun by the same network as well as cable/satellite channels FDF and Comedy Central España.
