Luis R. Figueroa (born February 16, 1974) is a Puerto Rican former professional infielder. He is a cousin of former major leaguer José Hernández. Career Figueroa was signed as an undrafted free agent by the Pittsburgh Pirates in , and made his major league debut on July 27, . Claimed off waivers by the New York Mets that August 15, on April 5, , Figueroa was part of a 7-player trade that sent him, Saúl Rivera, Bruce Chen, and Dicky Gonzalez to the Montreal Expos for Scott Strickland, Phil Seibel, and Matt Watson. Luis Figueroa (born September 18, 1989, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, U.S.) is a six-time GRAMMY-nominated Puerto Rican American singer-songwriter of the Latin pop and tropical music genres. He is known for his contributions to the salsa genre, and has been recognized as a leading voice in the movement to revitalize tropical music for new audiences. He studied at the Berklee College of Music and appeared on several television shows, including Star Search, Sábado Gigante and American Idol. Luis Pedro Figueroa Sepúlveda (born May 14, 1983) is a Chilean former footballer who played as a midfielder. Club career He was born in Concepción, and made his debut for U. de Concepción in 2002 (just 18 years old) and was bought by Universidad de Chile in 2005. In 2007, he signed for the Argentine club Club Atlético Banfield before returning to Chile in 2008 to play for Cobreloa. He then moved to Colo-Colo to play in the Clausura 2008. Luis Pérez Figueroa
Luis Pérez Figueroa (1833 – 1903) was a Mexican general who fought in the war of independence that followed the French intervention in Mexico. Military career Figueroa was born on 22 March 1833 in Salvatierra, Guanajuato. He joined the national army at the age of twenty in March 1853 as a second lieutenant in the infantry, and was promoted to first lieutenant in 1855. He played an active role in the war of intervention, fighting successfully against imperial troops in the mountains of Teotitlan and Tuxtepec. He was a signatory to the Plan which defended the town of Tuxtepec. As a colonel, on the 25th of April 1865 he defeated French forces at San Miguel Soyaltepec (now covered by the Miguel Aleman Dam), which was renamed Patriótica Villa de San Miguel Soyaltepec in 1868 in honor of this battle.
