Luis Bergareche
Luis Bergareche Maruri (16 May 1910 – 9 September 1994) was a Spanish businessman and footballer who played as a midfielder for Athletic Bilbao and Real Madrid in the 1920s. He is best known for scoring Athletic's first-ever goal in La Liga in 1929. Early life Luis Bergareche was born on 16 May 1910 in Balmaseda, Biscay, as the son of Santiago Bergareche, the director of a beret factory, and Adelaida Maruri, who moved to Deusto when he was a child. During his youth, Bergareche developed a deep passion not only for football, going as far as to lie about his age to participate in a youth championship in 1922, aged 12, but also for cycling, going as far as to have a fall that left him in a coma for three days in 1927, aged 17. Balmaseda
Balmaseda (in Basque and officially, in Spanish: ''Valmaseda'') is a town and municipality located in the province of Biscay, in the Basque Country. Josep Samitier Vilalta (; 2 February 1902 – 4 May 1972), also known as José Samitier, was a Spanish football player, manager and scout who played as a midfielder for FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, OGC Nice, the Catalan XI, and Spain. He later coached Atlético Madrid, Nice and Barcelona and worked as a scout for both Barcelona and Real Madrid. During his playing career with Barcelona, Samitier scored 187 official goals and was the club's all-time highest goalscorer at the time of his retirement. As of 2020, he is the club's fifth all-time top goalscorer behind Luis Suárez, László Kubala, César, and Lionel Messi. Ramón de la Fuente Leal, nicknamed Lafuente (31 December 1907 – 15 September 1973) was a Spanish footballer who played as a forward for Athletic Bilbao, Atlético Madrid and the Spain national team. Club career He was born in Bilbao. Lafuente began his sporting career in the ranks of Barakaldo CF in 1924, at the age of just 16 years old. At Barakaldo, he stood out as an extraordinary forward, which eventually earned him a move to Athletic Bilbao in 1926, with whom he played for nine seasons. In 1928 he was one of the members of the Athletic Bilbao team that played in the first season of the Spanish Football League. ''ABC'' () is a Spanish national daily newspaper. Along with and , it is one of Spain's three newspapers of record. History and profile ''ABC'' was first published in Madrid on 1 January 1903 by Torcuato Luca de Tena y Álvarez-Ossorio. The founding publishing house was Prensa Española, which was led by the founder of the paper, Luca de Tena. The paper started as a weekly newspaper, turning daily in June 1905. Victorio Unamuno
Victorio Unamuno Ibarzabal (21 May 1909 – 20 May 1988), also known as Unamuno I, was a Spanish footballer who played as a forward. He amassed La Liga totals of 144 games and 101 goals, with Athletic Bilbao and Betis. Career Unamuno was born in Bergara, Gipuzkoa. After helping Deportivo Alavés to the semi-finals of the 1928 Copa del Rey he was signed by neighbouring Athletic Bilbao to be part of their team in the newly-formed national league. He went on win two La Liga titles and four consecutive domestic cups, notably forming an attacking partnership with Bata, Guillermo Gorostiza, José Iraragorri, Chirri II and Lafuente. Atotxa () was a association football, football stadium in San Sebastián, Spain. It was the home ground of Real Sociedad until 1993 when it was replaced by Anoeta Stadium. It had superseded Ondarreta Stadium 80 years earlier. It had a capacity of 17,000 spectators. The 1929 Primera División season was the inaugural season of the Primera División. It started on 10 February 1929 and finished on 23 June 1929. A total of 10 teams participated in the league. After the failure to create a national league in 1928, that ended with the teams split into two unconcluded leagues, an agreement with the Royal Spanish Football Federation was finally reached for the creation of a national league. The King Alfonso XIII's Cup 1928–29 was the 29th staging of the Copa del Rey, the Spanish football cup competition. The competition started on December 8, 1928, and concluded on February 3, 1929, with the final, held at the Estadio Mestalla in Valencia. RCD Español won the competition for the first time. In the sport of association football, a defender is an outfield player whose primary role is to stop attacks during the game and prevent the opposition from scoring. Defenders fall into four main categories: centre-backs, full-backs, sweepers, and wing-backs. The centre-back and full-back positions are most common in modern formations.
