Luigi Sacchi
Luigi Sacchi (August 4, 1805 – June 22, 1861) was an Italian painter and engraver, but is chiefly notable as an early photographer, active mostly around his native city of Milan. He trained at the Brera Academy, Accademia delle Belle Arti di Brera and worked both as a painter and an engraver before taking up photography in 1845 along with his brother, specialising in architectural photography. In 1859 the Sacchi brothers began publishing an art and photography magazine titled ''L'Artista'' from the studio of Pompeo Pozzi. Biography Luigi Sacchi, who came into contact with the art world from an early age because of the professions of his father Giuseppe and cousin Defendente, enrolled at the Brera Academy in 1822. Brera Academy
The Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera ("academy of fine arts of Brera"), also known as the or Brera Academy, is a state-run tertiary public academy of fine arts in Milan, Italy. It shares its history, and its main building, with the Pinacoteca di Brera, Milan's main public museum for art. In 2010 an agreement was signed to move the accademia to a former military barracks, the Caserma Magenta in via Mascheroni. Pompeo Pozzi (1817–1888) was an Italian painter, but is best known for his photographs. Pozzi studied at the Brera Academy of Art, and was a resident of Milan. He mainly painted alpine landscapes and seascapes. The painter Luigi Sacchi in 1859 began publishing an art and photography magazine titled ''L Artista'' from Pozzi's studio. The Castello Sforzesco (Italian for "Sforza's Castle") is a medieval fortification located in Milan, northern Italy. It was built in the 15th century by Francesco Sforza, Duke of Milan, on the remnants of a 14th-century fortification. Later renovated and enlarged, in the 16th and 17th centuries it was one of the largest citadels in Europe. Extensively rebuilt by Luca Beltrami in 1891–1905, it now houses several of the city's museums and art collections.
