Luigi Gui
Luigi Gui (26 September 1914 – 26 April 2010) was an Italian politician and philosopher. Biography Gui was born in Padua (Veneto). He graduated in philosophy at the Catholic University in Milan. He was an officer of the Alpini corps of the Italian Army, and fought in USSR during World War II. Later, he was a member of the Italian Constituent Assembly which later became the modern Italian Parliament. He was deputy and senator from 1948 to 1983. He served as Minister of labour and social security, Minister of education, Minister of health, Minister of the Interior, Minister of Defense and Minister of Public Administration. He died on 26 April 2010, at the age of 95. Silvio Gava
Silvio Gava (25 April 1901 in Vittorio Veneto – 23 December 1999 in Rome) was an Italian politician who was one of the founders of the Christian Democracy Party. He hailed from a family based in Naples. He was a lawyer by profession. Gava became part of the Christian Democracy Party's national directorate in 1944. He was elected to the Italian Senate in 1948. He held several government posts for 13 times between 1948 and 1975, including minister of grace and justice, minister of treasury and minister of industry and commerce. From 1969 to 1974 Gava was the head of Christian Democracy Party's senatorial group. Alpini
The Alpini are the Italian Army's specialist mountain infantry. Part of the army's infantry corps, the speciality distinguished itself in combat during World War I and World War II. Currently the active Alpini units are organized in two operational brigades, which are subordinated to the Alpine Troops Headquarters. The Alpini's name comes from their inceptive association with the Alps, the mountain range that Italy shares with France, Switzerland, Austria, and Slovenia. An individual soldier of the Alpini is called Alpino. Established in 1872, the Alpini are the oldest active mountain infantry in the world. Christian Democracy ( it, Democrazia Cristiana, DC) was a Christian democratic political party in Italy. The DC was founded on 15 December 1943 in the Italian Social Republic (Nazi-occupied Italy) as the ideal successor of the Italian People's Party, which had the same symbol, a crusader shield (''scudo crociato'').
