Luigi Ferrando
Luigi Ferrando (Dom Luís; born 22 January 1941) is the emeritus bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Bragança do Pará. Biography Ferrando was born in Agazzano, in the Province of Piacenza. He was ordained priest on 1 May 1965, by the auxiliary bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Miniato, Paolo Ghizzoni. On 5 May 1996, Ferrando received episcopal ordination of Roman Catholic Diocese of Bragança do Pará, Bragança do Pará from Cardinal (Catholicism), cardinal Ersilio Tonini. He replaced the previous bishop of Bragança Miguel Maria Giambelli; he was the first non-Barnabite bishop of Bragança from its elevation. Ferrando retired on 17 August 2016. The province of Piacenza () is a province in the Emilia-Romagna region of Italy. Its provincial capital is the city Piacenza. As of 2016, it has a total population of 286,572 inhabitants over an area of , giving it a population density of 111.38 inhabitants per square kilometre. Ersilio Tonini
Ersilio Tonini (20 July 1914 – 28 July 2013) was an Italian cardinal of the Catholic Church. He served as Archbishop of Ravenna-Cervia from 1975 to 1990, and was elevated to the cardinalate in 1994. When Cardinal Paul Augustin Mayer died on 30 April 2010, Cardinal Tonini became the oldest living cardinal. He died on 28 July 2013, a week after his 99th birthday. Biography Ersilio Tonini was born in San Giorgio Piacentino, and studied at the seminary in Piacenza. He was ordained to the priesthood on 18 April 1937, and then served as vice- rector of the Piacenza seminary until 1939. Tonini furthered his studies at the Pontifical Lateran University in Rome, obtaining his degrees in civil and canon law, from 1939 to 1943.
