Luftvärnsrobotbandvagn 701
Luftvärnsrobotvagn 701 (abbreviated lvrbv 701) is a Swedish self-propelled anti-aircraft weapon, self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicle armed with the locally produced short range RBS 70 surface-to-air missile system. The lvrbv 701 is not weapons of mass destruction, NBC-protected and has no night vision equipment. Except for the armament, lvrbv 701 is identical to the Pansarvärnsrobotbandvagn 551 anti-tank guided missile, ATGM carrier. Both vehicles were built from the chassis of obsolete Infanterikanonvagn 103 self-propelled guns (some Pansarvärnsrobotbandvagn 551s used the Infanterikanonvagn 102 chassis instead). Conversion to the lvrbv 701 was done during the 1980s and the vehicle was taken out of active service around the year 2000. The Pansarvärnsrobotbandvagn 551 (pvrbv 551) was a tank destroyer developed by Landsverk and Hägglund & Söner. History When the Infanterikanonvagn 102/103 was replaced in 1975 to 1978 with the Infanterikanonvagn 91, the Swedish Army used their chassis as the basis for a new armoured fighting vehicle with anti-tank and anti-air variants. The Pansarvärnsrobotbandvagn 551 was the anti-tank variant while the Luftvärnsrobotvagn 701 was the anti-air variant. Description The pvrbv 551 had a new superstructure built on the old chassis. The primary armament was a BGM-71 TOW launcher, the TOW is known as the rb55 in the Swedish army. Secondary armament was a Ksp 58 machine gun. History In early 1949, the Swedish Army initiated a project for an assault gun was to provide direct fire support for infantry attacks.
