Luding County
Luding County (), also known via its Tibetan name as Chagsam or Jagsam ) is a county located in the southeast of the Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan province, China. Luding County covers an area of , and has a population of 86,234 as of 2022. History Geography Luding County is bordered by Tianquan County, Yingjing County, and Hanyuan County to the east, Shimian County to the south, and Kangding to the west and north. The county is located within the Hengduan Mountains, within the southeastern edge of the Tibetan Plateau. The town of Luqiao, the county seat, sits at an elevation of above sea level. The highest point in the county is Mount Gongga, along the southwestern border with Kangding. Mount Erlang is also located on the county's edge. Luding Bridge
Luding Bridge () is a bridge over the Dadu River in Luding County, Garzê Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Sichuan, China, located about 80 kilometers west of the city of Ya'an. The bridge dates from the Qing Dynasty and is considered a historical landmark. It was an important crossing on the road between Sichuan and Tibet. The bridge was the location of the Battle of Luding Bridge, one of the most important events in the Long March. Christa Luding-Rothenburger
Christa Luding-Rothenburger ( Rothenburger, born 4 December 1959) is a former speed skater and track cyclist. She was born in Weißwasser, East Germany. Luding is one of the few athletes who have competed in both the Summer and Winter Olympic Games, and the first female to win a medal in both the Summer and Winter Games. She is the only athlete to win Winter and Summer Olympic medals in the same year (1988), a feat that is no longer possible due to the staggering of the Winter and Summer Olympic years. In speed skating, she is a two-time Olympic gold medallist, while she is an Olympic silver medallist in cycling. Biography Before the German reunification in 1990, Luding competed for East Germany – afterwards for Germany. For more than 10 years, she was one of the world's best sprinters in speed skating.
