''Lucky Me'' is the third and final studio album by the American hardcore punk band Killing the Dream. The album was released on November 22, 2010, through Deathwish Inc. The title of the album is said to be "sarcastic in a sense, but is really genuine in another" by vocalist Elijah Horner, who saw himself as lucky to be where he was in his life during the recording of ''Lucky Me''. Killing The Dream
Killing the Dream was an American hardcore punk band from Sacramento, California, that formed in 2002 and broke up in 2011. The group signed to Deathwish Inc. in 2004, and released three studio albums through the label: ''In Place Apart'' (2005), ''Fractures (Killing the Dream album), Fractures'' (2008) and ''Lucky Me (Killing the Dream album), Lucky Me'' (2010). History Killing the Dream formed in Sacramento in 2002 with guitarist Joel Adams of Embrace the End, bassist Chris Chase, drummer Isaac Fratini and vocalist Elijah Horner. After recording a five-song demo tape in 2003, the group added second guitarist Bart Mullis—also of Embrace the End. The songs from this demo made up half of their self-titled debut album, released in 2004 through Rival Records. Hardcore punk (commonly abbreviated to hardcore or hXc) is a punk rock music genre#subtypes, subgenre and subculture that originated in the late 1970s. It is generally faster, harder, and more aggressive than other forms of punk rock. Melodic Hardcore
Melodic hardcore is a broadly defined subgenre of hardcore punk with a strong emphasis on melody in its guitar work. The style often includes guitar harmonies, riffs using octave chords, as well as broken chords. Additionally, lyrics tend towards intellectualism, often being politically conscious or narrative, with concept albums sometimes being prominent. Bands in the genre also have a tendency to take influence from a range of genres including emo, post-punk, screamo, pop-punk, metalcore, post-rock and gothic rock. In the early and mid–1980s, bands including the Faith, Descendents, Dag Nasty, Gorilla Biscuits and 7 Seconds were amongst the first hardcore bands to put an emphasis on their melodies. Deathwish Inc. is an American independent record label conceived by Jacob Bannon of Converge (band), Converge and Tre McCarthy in 2000. Their first release was ''Deeper the Wound'', a split album between Converge and Japanese band Hellchild on April 23, 2001. Deathwish established itself quickly, working with a diverse group of bands and eventually becoming one of the most respected and innovative labels in contemporary hardcore punk and aggressive music in general. Kurt Travis
Kurt Travis (born January 16, 1984) is an American singer, musician, and songwriter from Sacramento, California. He is currently part of the post-hardcore bands Royal Coda, A Lot Like Birds, and Push Over and the math rock duo Gold Necklace, and was formerly a vocalist in the post-hardcore bandDance Gavin Dance. Travis began his musical career in 2001. He joined post-hardcore band Five Minute Ride, releasing the extended plays (EPs), ''Bathroom Walls... Lipstick Secrets'' in 2003, and ''The World Needs Convincing of All That It's Missing'', on Rise Records, in 2005 before disbanding later that year. Jacob Bannon
Jacob Bannon (born October 15, 1976) is an American musician who is the vocalist, lyricist and graphic artist for the metalcore band Converge (band), Converge. He is the co-founder and owner of the record label Deathwish Inc. and the author of many visual works for independent punk rock and Heavy metal music, heavy metal musicians. Bannon has also composed and performed experimental music as Supermachiner with Ryan Parker and more recently as Wear Your Wounds. Early life Bannon was born in 1976. Converge is an American metalcore band formed by vocalist and artist Jacob Bannon and guitarist and producer Kurt Ballou in Salem, Massachusetts in 1990.
