Lucknow University Ground
The University Ground was a test cricket stadium in Lucknow, India. The first and the only international Test match was played on 23–26 October 1952 between India and Pakistan. The venue, however, was not as popular as Green Park Stadium in the nearby city of Kanpur which hosted most of the Test matches. The stadium lies on the banks of the River Gomti. In 1994, the K.D. Singh Babu Stadium took its place as the city's premier cricket ground. Now this ground is used by owner University of Lucknow as a multi-purpose stadium for university events and sports activities. University of Lucknow (informally known as Lucknow University, and LU) is one of the oldest public state university based in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh. LU's main campus is located at Badshah Bagh, University Road area of the city with a second campus at Jankipuram. It is the largest state university of Uttar Pradesh. Green Park Stadium
Green Park Stadium is an international cricket stadium in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. Its seating capacity increased to approximately 32,000 after a recent reconstruction. It is the home ground of Uttar Pradesh cricket team. This arena is an International Test match venue. Green Park is under the control of the Sports Department of Uttar Pradesh. It has hosted international cricket matches in both Test and ODI formats. The stadium hosted the 500th Test played by the Indian team. It also organized four Vivo IPL matches, on 19 and 21 May 2016 and on 10 and 13 May 2017. As of 19 August 2017, it has hosted 22 Tests, 14 ODIs, and 1 T20I. It is situated near the river Ganga. Nazar Mohammad
Nazar Mohammad (5 March 1921 – 12 July 1996) was a Pakistani cricketer who played in five Test matches in 1952. He was educated at Islamia College, Lahore. Family His brother Feroz Nizami was a famous music composer while his other brother Siraj Nizami was a writer specializing in Sufism. His son Mudassar Nazar also represented Pakistan in cricket for many years in the 1970s and 1980s, and he was the uncle of Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Ilyas. Career In October 1952, in Pakistan's second Test match and first Test victory, he became the first player to score a Test century for Pakistan, and the first player to remain on the ground for an entire Test match. An opening batsman, he carried his bat for his score of '124 not out' in Pakistan's total of 331 in an innings victory over India, batting for 8 hours 35 minutes. Fazal Mahmood
Fazal Mahmood PP, HI (18 February 1927 – 30 May 2005) was a Pakistani international cricketer. He played in 34 Test matches and took 139 wickets at a bowling average of 24.70. The first Pakistani to pass 100 wickets, he reached the landmark in his 22nd match. Fazal played his earliest first-class cricket for Northern India in the Ranji Trophy and strong performances there led to selection for India's inaugural tour of Australia in 1947–48. The independence of Pakistan, prior to the tour led Fazal, a Muslim, to withdraw and choose Pakistan. He played a major role in first gaining Test status for the new nation and then establishing them as a Test match team.
