Lucindale
Lucindale is a small town in the south-east of South Australia. The town is located south east of the state capital, Adelaide. At the 2006 census, Lucindale had a population of 301. The town is best known for hosting the annual South East Field Days, attracting over 26,000 visitors every March. History The town was proclaimed on 25 January 1877. It was named after Lady Jeannie Lucinda Musgrave—the wife of the Governor of South Australia, Anthony Musgrave. It was a station on the Kingston-Naracoorte railway line which opened around the same time and closed on 28 November 1987 then dismantled on 15 September 1991. A school was established in 1878. The Post Office opened on 1 May 1877 but was known as Baker's Range for a few months. The locality of Lucindale was proclaimed on 3 December 1998. Kowree-Naracoorte-Tatiara Football League
The Kowree-Naracoorte-Tatiara Football League is an Australian rules football competition based in the Limestone Coast region of South Australia, Australia. It is an affiliated member of the South Australian National Football League. One unusual aspect of the league is that it includes clubs from both South Australia and Victoria. The 2018/19/20/21 league medalist was Darcy “Sauce” Boyanton. Naracoorte Lucindale Council
The Naracoorte Lucindale Council is a local government area in the Australian state of South Australia located in the Limestone Coast region in the south-east of the state adjacent to the Victorian border. It was created on 1 December 1998 following the amalgamation of the District Council of Naracoorte and the District Council of Lucindale. The districts economy is agricultural based, with cereal crops, sheep and beef predominantly farmed. It has a substantial tourist industry as well, with the Naracoorte Caves, Wonambi Fossil Centre and the seasonal Bool and Hacks Lagoons Wetlands being the main attractions. Stewart Range, South Australia
__NOTOC__ Stewart Range (formerly Stewarts and Tryon) is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located about south-east of the state capital of Adelaide and about west of the municipal seat of Naracoorte. Stewart Range came in existence as a government town which was proclaimed with the name Tryon on 29 April 1886. It was renamed as Stewarts in 1940. Boundaries for the locality within the former District Council of Lucindale were created in 1998 which includes “the Government Town of Stewarts“ and was given the “long established name” which was derived from a range of hills known as Stewart Range. Avenue Range, South Australia
Avenue Range (formerly Downer) is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located in the state's south-east within the Limestone Coast region about south east of the Adelaide city centre. The traditional owners of this region are the Bungandidj (Boandik) people. In 1843 a pastoralist named John ‘Jacky’ White acquired a run of 134 square miles spanning Reedy Creek, Keilira, Crower and Lucindale. He was the first European settler in Avenue Range. Avenue Range was a stop on the Kingston-Naracoorte railway line. The first passenger train to travel on the line from Kingston to Naracoorte was on 1 September 1876 until the last on 28 November 1987 spanning 111 years. The first Avenue school, named Downer School, was built south of the railway line and operated from 1890 to 1901. Fox is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located in the state's south-east within the Limestone Coast region about south east of the state capital of Adelaide and about south-west of the municipal seat of Naracoorte. Boundaries for the locality were created and was given the name of Fox on 3 December 1998. The name is derived from the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Fox in which the locality is located. The hundred itself was named after Arthur Aloysius Fox who served one term in the South Australian House of Assembly. The 2016 Australian census which was conducted in August 2016 reports that Fox had a population of 53 people. Woolumbool is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located about south-east of the state capital of Adelaide and about west of the municipal seat in Naracoorte. Woolumbool’s boundaries were created on 3 December 1998 for the “local established name” which is derived from the cadastral unit of the Hundred of Woolumbool. Naracoorte, South Australia
Naracoorte is a town in the Limestone Coast region of South Australia, approximately 336 kilometres south-east of Adelaide and 100 kilometres north of Mount Gambier on the Riddoch Highway (A66). History Before the colonisation of South Australia in 1836, the land now occupied by the town of Naracoorte was situated on the border of lands occuped by the Bindjali people to the east and Ngarrindjeri to the east. Naracoorte was formed from the merger of two towns, Kincraig, founded in 1845 by Scottish explorer William Macintosh, and Narracoorte, established as a government settlement in 1847. The name has gone through a number of spellings, and is believed to be derived from the Aboriginal words for ''place of running water'' or ''large waterhole''. Sandy Roberts (born 22 February 1950) is a veteran sports presenter and commentator formerly working on television for Fox Sports Australia and radio with Crocmedia. He was a long-time personality of the Seven Network for four decades, notably part of the Seven Sport Olympics coverage as a host for more than 20 years. Career Roberts' career started at Perth radio station 6PM, after a short stint as a copyboy for the Adelaide ''News''.
