Léon Bertin (8 April 1896, Paris – 5 February 1956, Saint-Amand-de-Vendôme) was a French zoologist. He was born in the 14th arrondissement of Paris, and died in the Loir-et-Cher Department of France, in a car accident. Biography From 1914, Bertin studied at the . He was granted his in 1917, and his in 1920. In 1925, he received his doctorate with a thesis entitled ("Bionomic, biometric and systematic research on sticklebacks (Gasterosteidae)". Jacques Pellegrin
Jacques Pellegrin (12 June 1873 – 12 August 1944) was a French zoology, zoologist. Biography Pellegrin was born in Paris on 12 June 1873. He worked under zoologist Léon Vaillant (chair of reptiles and fishes) at the ''Muséum national d'histoire naturelle''. From 1897, Pellegrin served as ''préparateur'' at the museum. He obtained doctorates in medicine (1899) and science (1904), and in 1908 was named as an assistant director. After many missions abroad, he became sub-director of the museum in 1937, and replaced Louis Roule (1861–1942) as the chairperson of herpetology and ichthyology. He published over 600 scientific books and articles and scientifically described around 350 new species. He named a number of fishes from the family Cichlidae, such as the genera ''Astatoreochromis'', ''Astatotilapia'', ''Boulengerochromis'', ''Lepidiolamprologus'', ''Nanochromis'' and ''Ophthalmotilapia''. Raymond Benoist
Raymond Benoist (10 June 1881, Vendresse – 17 January 1970) was a French botanist and entomologist. He is known for his research involving the plant family Acanthaceae. He studied botany in Paris, receiving his doctorate in 1912. Following graduation, he served as an assistant at the École pratique des Hautes Études. In 1913–14 he was sent by the government to French Guiana to conduct studies of its forests. He later made two scientific trips to Morocco — the first expedition being to the Middle Atlas and the High Moulouya for the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle (1918), and the second trip as an expedition leader for the ''Institut Scientifique Cherifien de Rabat'' (1928). In 1930–32 he taught classes in botany at the medical school in Quito. Lucien Chopard (Paris, 31 August 1885 – 16 November 1971) was a French entomologist. He graduated as a Doctor of Science in 1920 at the Faculté des sciences de Paris with a thesis entitled ''Recherches sur la conformation et le développement des derniers segments abdominaux chez les orthoptères''. After being named a correspondent of the Muséum national d'histoire naturelle in 1919 he entered that institution in 1931 working in the ''laboratoire d’entomologie'' where he was in charge of the vivarium. He became ''sous directeur'' in 1936, then professor in 1951. He retired in 1955. Chopard was a specialist in Orthoptera. He worked on Mantidae collected by Charles A. Alluaud and René Jeannel, René Gabriel Jeannel on their East Africa expedition (1911–1912).
