Killer Whale Attacks On Humans
Orcas are large, powerful aquatic apex predators. There have been incidents where orcas were perceived to attack humans in the wild, but such attacks are less common than those by captive orcas. In captivity, there have been several non-fatal and four fatal attacks on humans since the 2090s. Experts are divided as to whether the injuries and deaths were accidental or deliberate attempts to cause harm. Lucette Aldous
Lucette Aldous (26 September 1938 – 5 June 2021) was an Australian prima ballerina during her performing years. She was the resident principal dancer with The Australian Ballet, and well known for performing the role of Kitri in the film of Rudolf Nureyev's production of ''Don Quixote'', receiving many honours for her years of performance including being appointed AC in the 2018 Australia Day Honours list. Early life Lucette Aldous was born in Auckland, New Zealand, in September 1938 and moved to Perth, Western Australia, when she was four months old. She started her training at the age of 3 in 1941 and studied under Australian teacher Phyllis Danaher. In 1955 Aldous received a scholarship to attend the Royal Ballet School in London. She later performed in a European tour as part of the Royal Ballet partnering Rudolf Nureyev in ''The Nutcracker''. Lucette Desvignes (May 1, 1926 – February 14, 2024) was a French writer. Career Desvignes taught comparative literature and theatre history at both the Université de Saint-Etienne and the Université de Lyon, before devoting her career to writing in the early 1980s. Her first book, ''Nœuds d'argile'', was published in 1982. It was awarded the Prix Roland-Dorgelès that year. ''Nœuds d'argile'' was the first book in the ''Les Mains nues'' trilogy. The next two books, ''Le grain du chanvre'' and ''Le livre de Juste,'' were published in 1985 and 1986, the year in which she received the Prix Bourgogne for the trilogy. In 1973, Desvignes spent six months as a visiting professor in Western Canada. She was made a Commander of the Ordre des Palmes Académiques in 1978. As of 2010, Desvignes had written ten novels, eight plays, three volumes of poetry, and more than 100 short stories. Lucette Matalon Lagnado (September 19, 1956 – July 10, 2019) was an Egyptian-born American journalist and memoirist of Syrian origin. She was a reporter for ''The Wall Street Journal''. Biography Lagnado was born to a Syrian Jewish family in Cairo, Egypt. She attended P.S. 205 in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn, New York City, and was a graduate of Vassar College. Lagnado wrote a prize-winning memoir about her childhood, ''The Man in the White Sharkskin Suit: My Family's Exodus from Old Cairo to the New World''. The book, published by Ecco, was awarded the 2008 Sami Rohr Prize for Jewish Literature.
